CSH needs volunteers for planting the remaining native plant plug for our new pollinator gardens this Sunday at 1pm. The location is in Hobart on the Oak Savanna Trail where it crosses Wisconsin. There may be some rain, but it's 'supposed' to be a small amount.

We want to celebrate our successful Fix It Fair last weekend! The energy at the event was very positive and everyone seemed to have a great time as there were a lot of smiles. Around 50 items were repaired and kept out of the landfill including clothes, lamps, appliances, jewelry, bicycles, and garden tools. We will definitely have another one next year. We would like to say thanks to the public, our fixer and event volunteers, Highland Neighbors for Sustainability, Lake County Indiana Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area - CISMA, and Joy Bomb Social Center. A special thanks goes to the First Unitarian Church of Hobart for providing the event space. This event could not have been successful without all of you, and it shows how we're building a community of eco-minded people that want to change our culture of a throwaway society.

Repair and don't throw away! Today we're fixing broken things for FREE from 11-2 at the First Unitarian Church of Hobart in downtown Hobart. We're doing FREE bike tune ups and repairs so bring your bikes. We're also fixing broken jewelry, ripped or torn clothes, coats, knitted items, bags, backpacks, etc., small electrical items, appliances, and lamps, small mechanical (examples, lawnmowers, chainsaws), broken wooden items like chairs, end tables. Keep things out of the landfill.

*** Update.. We've decided to cancel today's planting event. We will decide on a new date soon and let everyone know.

Last Friday we planted half of the pollinator garden site, and we need volunteers again to help us complete the project this Friday, October 23rd at 9am. The sites are on either side of Wisconsin Street in Hobart where it intersects with the Oak Savanna Trail.
