Located in the Ramapo Mountains, Rockland County, New York, TevaLand Sanctuary Farm began as a small sustainable homestead on a woodland property. Every fence and many structures on the farm were constructed by volunteers on a privately funded “shoestring” budget, primarily using recycled and salvaged materials. This passion and dedication served to transform an idyllic mountaintop location into a

safe haven for mistreated, neglected, or abandoned farm animals. Today, TevaLand Sanctuary Farm offers a variety of educational programs which encourage participants to both heal and be nurtured by nature via a mutually beneficial, hands-on, therapeutic process. TevaLand Sanctuary Farm provides opportunities for participants to take an active part in the rehabilitation of rescued animals. Through helping animals achieve calm and balance, people come to discover their own capacity for love, kindness, compassion, and inner-peace. Hayyyyy! Did you know there is a hay shortage right now? Thankfully, we are always covered. We are so grateful we were able to pick up this massive round bale from the incredible Jason at Wagon Wheel Farm 🙏 From our little chinchillas, buns, and guinea pigs, to our pigs, goats, sheep, horses, and moo puppies, all of our rescues get to enjoy the absolute best, high-quality hay ❤ Thank you, Jason! Have you ever felt a profound sense of peace just being around a horse like our beautiful Lana? There’s measurable science to support that feeling. It's called heart coherence.

"My name is Jenny Morales and I am a biology major at Ramapo College of New Jersey. I am very grateful to form part of the TevaLand team as one of their college interns. I plan on going to veterinary medical school to pursue further education and establish myself as a veterinarian. I have always loved animals and believe that we need them as much or even more than they need us. This internship has helped me connect and build relationships with a variety of animals big and small. It has also helped me better understand the nonverbal communication that animals transmit as well as identifying normal and unusual behaviors. "

Did you know donkeys are the ultimate farm security system? While Michelangelo might look like he is just leaning in for a close up, here at TevaLand, donkeys are actually highly intelligent and fiercely protective animals 💪

Notice the sheep hanging out safely in the background? That is no accident. Donkeys are naturally territorial and have a strong instinct to guard their pasture mates against potential threats. Because they are highly alert and cautious, they make excellent livestock guardians. If they sense danger, they will bray loudly, stand their ground, and even charge to protect the herd 🛑

Their trademark large ears serve a massive purpose, too. They allow donkeys to hear sounds from miles away! The next time you visit the Sanctuary, remember that our long eared friends are doing a lot more than just looking cute. They are the vigilant protectors of the Rescued Animal Family 🙏❤️
