Windsor Wednesday Celebrates Real Farmers, Real Meat, Real Food in Honor of National Pork Month

Linn County Farm Bureau, Fareway Stores Marion, and Fareway Stores Lisbon are excited to bring Windsor Wednesday to the people of Linn County again this year. Join us in celebrating National Pork Month every Wednesday this October.

Starting this week, you will be able to sign up for the Windsor Wednesday drawing at the Marion Fareway and Lisbon Fareway meat counter. Each Wednesday, starting October 1st thru October 29th, a winner will be drawn to receive a 6-pack of Windsor Chops (smoked pork chop) and a pound of thick cut bacon. Winners will be notified by phone and asked to have their picture taken when they pick up their winnings. Watch for the bucket at the meat counter and enter to win delicious pork!

On Friday, September 4th, four local leaders of Farm Bureau met with trade representatives from Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Japan, Vietnam, and Peru to discuss world trade and its impact on Iowa agriculture. The meeting was facilitated by Global Ties Iowa, a community-based, member-driven nonprofit that coordinates people‑to‑people exchanges between international leaders and residents of eastern Iowa’s Creative Corridor, fostering mutual understanding through citizen diplomacy. The discussion was based around sharing the experience of the Iowa farmers, while allowing them the opportunity to tell their stories of how the global trade market directly impacts their operations to international leaders.

Linn, Benton, Delaware, & Jones County Farm Bureau’s co-hosted a Young Farmer Social on June 11th at the Linn County Fairgrounds. This event was hosted to bring the young farmers from neighboring counties altogether! Everyone was able to network while playing in a bags tournament and other yard games. A couple board members from each county were also in attendance to answer any questions about Farm Bureau! A big thank you to everyone that helped plan this event and to everyone who attended, it was a blast!

📣 Fairgoers, we've got an important update for grandstand events at the Linn County Fair!

A new clear bag policy is in place to help everyone get through the gates safely and more quickly. Guests should bring personal items in a clear bag when attending grandstand events.

Medical device bags and diaper bags are permitted, and all bags are subject to search upon entry.
