🚒🚑🚓 💻October 28th – National First Responders Day 🇺🇸

Today, we recognize the dedicated men and women who answer the call, day or night, regardless of the circumstances.

From firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics to law enforcement officers and emergency dispatchers, first responders share a common commitment: being there for others when they need us most.

Behind every uniform is a person, a family, and a willingness to put the needs of others before their own. Missed holidays, sleepless nights, and time away from loved ones are just some of the sacrifices made in service to our communities.

To our fellow first responders here in Hermon, throughout Penobscot County, across Maine, and around the country, thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to those you serve.

Different uniforms. Different responsibilities. One common mission: Serving our communities.

Happy National First Responders Day!

Halloween season is upon us, and Hermon Fire Department is excited to be out in the community for trunk-or-treat events this year. We’re especially proud to show off our new Halloween-themed duty shirts while we hand out candy, meet families, and help make the season fun and safe for everyone. If you see us out and about, be sure to stop by and say hello! 🎃🚒

🚒 Second Alarm Response

This morning at 10:49 a.m., members of the Professional Firefighters of Hermon, IAFF Local 5458, were dispatched to a report of smoke coming from a building in the 500 block of Billings Rd. The incident was upgraded to a second alarm early in the response, bringing additional resources to the scene.

With only two firefighters staffing our station on weekends and holidays, requesting mutual aid early is critical to ensuring the safety of our crews and providing the resources needed to handle emergencies effectively.

We are grateful for our neighboring departments who continue to answer the call when additional help is needed.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

We’d like to formally request a little more room in the back of the ambulance.

Until then, we’ll just keep working on our choreography. 🚑😂🕺🏼🚒

This morning some of our crew staffed an engine and provided station coverage for Bangor Maine Fire Department. A great working relationship with our mutual aid partners is so important in times of emergency.

Today we say goodbye to Firefighter Marius De Lannee as he works his final shift with us.

Marius came to our department with zero firefighting experience and a willing to learn. He did bring an incredible amount of knowledge and experience as a paramedic. He quickly became a valued member of the crew and someone we could always count on for his medical knowledge.

His work ethic is just as impressive—working two full-time jobs while also serving in the military and training to become a flight medic.

Thank you, brother DeLanne, for everything you brought to our department and our Local. We’re proud to have worked alongside you and wish you nothing but success in what comes next.

Good luck, brother. 🚒🚑🇺🇸

Great day representing Local 5458 at the Carmel Days Parade! 🚒 Even better, our spouses and kids got to join us in the truck and help hand out candy along the route. We always enjoy getting out in the community and being part of a great local tradition. Thanks, Carmel and Carmel Fire & Rescue, for having us!
