Angelina didn't know if things would ever change.
A mother of three in Katwe, Uganda, her home had become a place of fear. Conflict. Hunger. Physical violence. She remembers clearly the day her face was swollen from being beaten.
That was the day Auntie Mourine and Auntie Goretty, ECM's Karamoja Kampala Hope Center Coordinators, came to the Katwe community and found her.
They sat Angelina and her husband down together. They asked what was happening. Her husband wouldn't open up, but Angelina did. She told them everything.
What happened next changed her life.
Through ECM's Family Empowerment program, Angelina and her husband received counseling, biblical teaching, and training on what a Christ-centered marriage and family could look like. They were encouraged to attend Bible trainings and they kept coming back.
"When they advised us, the family transformed."
Today, Angelina's home is unrecognizable from what it once was. She goes to church faithfully. Her husband joins her. Her business is doing well. Her children are in school. And the violence and conflict that once defined her home? Gone.
"There is nothing again disturbing us. We are really doing well. By the grace of God."
