Results from the H. L. Thomas Cup Regatta this past weekend!

Eight boats went out for the 12 mile race around Goat, Taylor, and Snake Islands. We faced a variety of winds: light, perfect, and none out by Taylor for just a bit. Overall, a very fun sail with many boats staying close throughout.

Everyone did great. We had a new family join us and we expect to see them again, it was great having Rio Wings sail with us. They sailed their Catalina 25 wonderfully!

Kaos 2 took line honors and Sirocco got the overall win on corrected time. Congratulations!!🏆🏆🏆⛵️⚓️🛟

Red Eye Regatta Recap May 30, 2026

“Cheers never quits!” was stated at the pre-race pizza party at 5 pm as we discussed low winds and possible race outcomes. The winds held at 1-3 mph for most of the evening, but got extremely light after 10:30 pm. We had a beautiful sunset and the Blue moon appeared later than expected due to low level clouds. It was still a wonderful night on the water with perfect temperatures.

Four boats started out after the dinner and visiting on Q dock. Wreckless Adventurer took off at 6:38 pm with Hunter 28.5 and Carpe Diem close behind. Cheers was the last to leave with 6:46 pm being their start time for the 8 mile pursuit race around Goat and Taylor islands.

Winds were light and from the East as we slowly made our way around Goat, Wreckless took an extra tack to clear the island and was passed by the other boats while doing so near the cove on the Eastern side. From there it was a slow downwind run to Taylor Island into the setting sun.

We slowly worked our way back to Goat Island and point 4 and the wind died after 10 pm. It wasn’t too long before 3 boats called it a night and motored in….but not Cheers! Cheers stuck it out and crossed the start line at 12:23 am because “there are no quitters on Cheers!” Congratulations!

We had a special guest join us for the race. An Australian sailor out of the Royal Perth Yacht Club was in Arkansas visiting and wanted to sail with us, of course we said to come on and join us. He made quick friends with our sailors in attendance and crewed on Wreckless for the night. Robert sails an Adams 10.6 in Perth named Adam’s Rib and is an accomplished racer in his club. Check out the pictures for a look at his yacht team logo. He expects to visit family in Arkansas every few years and has promised to join us whenever he is in town and we’re sailing. You are welcome any time Robert!

It was a fun night!

Porta Potty Race May 16, 2026

Seven boats and nice winds this past Saturday made for a fun outing for our 3rd Annual Race to the Porta Potty at the Narrows. We set out at noon with a good south wind and raced together as a fleet, everyone staying relatively close. We reached the Porta Potty after a fast 1 hour run and got very close to it before turning back. There was a fisherman at the porta potty and he seemed a little shocked at the arrival of the fleet. Everyone tried to keep a respectable distance, but it was all good and he was as entertained as we were.

Sailing back, the winds got a little feisty. Sirocco and Wreckless were blown around a bit, and an occasional rounding up was seen with the bigger boats. Everyone sailed well and got back in safely. The final times between first and last were only 20 minutes.

Kaos 2 took line honors slightly ahead of Cheers. Carpe Diem turned in a great sail earning 2nd place! Sirocco took the overall win on corrected time. Special trophies were awarded for this prestigious race, see pictures for race results and the trophies presented!

Thanks to all that came out for one of our best sails of the year….so far!

Next up: Red Eye – May 30th

Have a great week!
