The Bar 717 Ranch, Camp Trinity offers children ages 8-16 an opportunity to spend the summer on a beautiful mountain ranch. Through Ranch activities, the camp program emphasizes taking responsibility for oneself and others in a non-competitive, supportive environment. Campers may choose freely from activities including horseback riding, backpacking, gardening, animal care, river swimming, arts and crafts, photography, music, drama, archery blacksmithing, ceramics and much more.

Each day during program time throughout the summer, you’re sure to find plenty going on at the ceramics shop. Ceramics remains one of our most well-loved program areas, and every morning (or afternoon) campers can be found hard at work on hand building or wheel throwing projects. From shaping the wet clay to glazing their dried piece and finally firing it in our kiln, campers are able to learn about the full process with the help of our counselors. We watched some really amazing projects come to life this year: bowls, mugs, jewelry trays, miniature animal figurines of every kind, hanging mobiles, and even a few decorative fountains.

We are excited to announce that enrollment is open for all 2027 sessions at Camp Trinity on the Bar 717 Ranch!

Our planning begins now for another summer of camping in the beautiful mountains of Trinity County. We will be offering four two-week sessions of kids’ camp, a week of Family Camp, and an Alumni Weekend. We encourage you to enroll early to secure a spot in the session of your choice!

Last but not least…we’re taking a look back at this summer’s week of Family Camp 🌻

Family Camp is our last session of the summer: one week where those of all ages can enjoy everything the ranch has to offer. Just like our summer sessions, family campers share meals together (including Sunday breakfast!), explore our program areas, hike, swim, and attend campfires, dances, and a boat race to cap off the week. It’s a lovely way for alumni to return to camp to see old friends, for new families to get to know the ranch, and for young prospective campers to get a feel for camp before they enroll in a full session.

This year, we had a wonderful group: a blend of alumni and new families from all across the country. We had a picnic dinner and dance at the Homestead, went on river walks, held a fantastic & enthusiastic Untalent Show, and worked on beautiful craft projects on the Avenue. It’s a wonderful chance for us to re-connect with old friends and introduce new ones to all the things we love most about summer on the ranch, and we’re grateful for the time we were able to spend with everyone.

As our final session of the summer, Family Camp is always bittersweet for our staff & leadership team, but we try to make the most of the opportunity to enjoy the last few days of camp to the fullest: the late-summer mornings and golden light, chilly river dips, and warm evenings.

Thanks to all our Family Campers for a wonderful end to our summer — we can’t wait to welcome you back to the ranch soon!

Welcome to our Fourth Session recap — our final session of kids’ camp each summer!

This year, Fourth Session was our smallest group of campers, and it lent a particularly cozy atmosphere to the ranch; everyone felt like familiar friends in no time at all, and it was a lovely way to wrap up the last couple weeks of summer sessions.

With that said, we still stayed busy as ever with all the best of our camp activities — campfires, dances, Sunday hikes, and overnight trips abounded as always. Campers worked on wood shop projects (including a toy-sized horse stable replica), ventured into the Alps for one final backpacking trip, and brought the full breadth of their creativity to the stage for the Untalent Show (clown performances, Lilo & Stitch impressions, game shows, a Q&A session hosted by one of our chickens…to name a few!).

We wrapped up the session with one of the sweetest festivals of the summer: the Apple Jubilee. The Jubilee celebrates our apple harvest on the ranch, and features all things apple-themed. We planted a new apple tree on Gates Gables lawn with the help of campers, and enjoyed apple c***r, caramel apples, and more up at the Amphitheater. By the time Fourth Session rolls around, the season has shifted slightly. It’s late summer; the light is just a little more golden, the days just a little shorter, and the mornings just a little chillier. With the Apple Jubilee to cap things off, it feels like the perfect moment to appreciate summertime in the mountains and all the fun that our camp season brings.

To our 2026 Fourth Session campers — thanks for making our final weeks of kids’ camp so wonderful. We’re already looking forward to seeing you next summer!

The Curiosity Shop was the place to be this summer! Home to all sorts of delightful nature finds — plants and flowers, antlers, bones, owl pellets, and more — this year it was also host to a rock necklace-making station. Organized by one of our resource staff and carried on by our Curiosity Shop counselors, rock necklaces quickly became a favorite activity amongst campers.
