With Hurricane Lowell, Karina, and Marie moving towards the Hawaiian Islands, we want to remind customers to prepare. As of 11 a.m. HST on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, Lowell remains a powerful category 4 system and is continuing a westward track south of the islands before making a sharp right turn to the north late this weekend and early next week as a major hurricane.
While it is still too soon to determine the exact track of these storm systems, they could bring storm surge, wind, and rainfall impacts to portions of Hawaii early next week. We urge all customers to prepare now and monitor the development of the storms. Preparation and safety tips are available at hawaiianelectric.com/stormcenter.
