"Haverhill Service Clubs Spruce Up Welcome Signs"
WHAV
"Members of the Breakfast Exchange Club of Greater Haverhill spent their June meeting time Tuesday sprucing up the Welcome to Haverhill sign at the intersection of Boston Road and Route 125. Haverhill’s service clubs, featured on the signs, have been tackling overdue maintenance at each of the six signs at entrances to the city." (WHAV News photograph.)

"Armed with paintbrushes and gardening tools members of the Breakfast Exchange Club of Greater Haverhill Tuesday morning spruced up the Welcome to Haverhill sign at the intersection of Boston Road and Route 125.
"The sign, now refreshed with a new coat of paint and enhanced with flowering plants, is the second of six signs getting some overdue TLC. The welcome sign at Kenoza Lake near the Haverhill water treatment plant, which blew over in a storm this winter, was removed and is being refurbished with the support of the Pentucket Kiwanis Club. The Rotary Club of Haverhill will be working on the sign at River Street near the Ninety Nine Restaurant sometime this summer.

"The Paint and Plant Project was inspired by longtime Haverhill Kiwanis member Peter Carbone, who mentioned at a recent joint meeting of Haverhill service clubs the signs were beginning to look shabby. The signs, which feature the logos of seven service and civic organizations, were first installed in 1991 and 1992, Carbone told WHAV. The other three signs are located on Broadway near the Interstate Highway 495 overpass, on Lincoln Avenue near the Haverhill Stadium and upper Main Street at Lowell Five Bank.
Breakfast Exchange Club members involved in the sign refurbishment project were Judi Arasi, Peggy Connolly, Liz Cronin, Diane Galvin, Margaret Leighton, Brian Meade, Lucinda Nolet, Melanie Rivera, Noella Rourke, Bonnie Sisson and Maribel Zannini."
