Remember those beautiful tomato and lettuce rows we featured last week? 🍅🥬

We have our friends from New Balance to thank for that! Their volunteer team spent the day planting, digging, and helping the garden grow. We're grateful for their continued hard work and support in making this season's harvest possible.

A big thank you to the North Andover Youth Services for lending a hand in the garden!

These hardworking middle schoolers helped move woodchips throughout the garden, an important task that helps suppress weeds, retain moisture, and keep our pathways looking great. We appreciate their energy, teamwork, and willingness to get their hands dirty for a good cause!

Thalia was all smiles while helping till the soil in preparation for new plantings! 🌱 Tilling is an important step in gardening because it helps loosen the soil, improve airflow, mix in nutrients, and create the perfect environment for young plants to grow strong and healthy roots. Thanks to volunteers like Thalia, our garden beds are getting ready for another season of growth!

Just look at this ingenious gardening hack! 🌱 Zucchini plants grow large and leafy once fully grown, which can make weeding a challenge. To help keep weeds at bay, our gardeners laid down brown paper and planted the seedlings safely through small openings. The paper blocks weeds while still giving the zucchini plenty of room to grow healthy and strong!

Brandon, one of our dedicated volunteers from the TOPS program in Andover, was hard at work in the garden this past week!

He helped scoop & spread covering for our zucchini fields and took time to admire the peas he planted just a couple of weeks ago. He was very careful to measure the spacing for each seedling to make sure they have plenty of room to grow healthy and strong! 🫛💚🌱

Just look at this beautiful field of lettuce and tomatoes! 🥬🍅 In no time at all, we will have the makings of a delicious fresh salad.

We are also excited to introduce Sarah, our newest intern! She will be helping us in the garden all summer long, and we are so happy to have her join our growing garden community.
