One cat left unspayed can have three litters a year, and in just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring can produce nearly 480,000 kittens. That’s thousands of tiny lives all searching for food, shelter, and kindness.

Spaying and neutering breaks that cycle. It’s a simple, quiet act that ripples out further than we see, giving the animals already here a better shot — at homes and at care.

KITTEN SEASON IS HERE, and this June, we’re making it easier than ever to help. Thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation, spay/neuter surgeries for male and female cats — including community cats — are FREE all month long. There’s just a $25 fee to help cover supplies.

For the safety of our staff, volunteers, and community, Southern Pines Animal Shelter will be closed tomorrow, 6/18, due to severe weather conditions. We plan to reopen Friday at noon and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our shelter to meet some furry friends.

Before the storm moves through our area, take a few moments to make sure your pets are safe. Bring them indoors and ensure they’re wearing proper identification in case they become separated from you. If you care for any outdoor animals, make sure they have access to a secure, dry place where they can stay protected from the wind and rain.

Stay safe out there. We'll see you Friday at noon!

Our Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic will be closed tomorrow

Due to the forecast for inclement weather tomorrow, Thursday, June 18th, all Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic locations will be closed to ensure the safety of our staff and clients.

We will reopen at regular business hours on Friday, June 19th. If you have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow, our staff will be reaching out to reschedule.

We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. Please keep your furry friends in mind during the weather event. Make sure outdoor pets have a warm, dry place to shelter, and stay safe out there, y'all!

We just wanted to share a few images from our Purvis Tornado Relief event this past weekend! Together, we provided veterinary care and supplies to just over 30 pets and families, and we're grateful to everyone in the Purvis community who came out to be part of it.

This event was made possible by a generous disaster relief grant from PetSmart Charities, so special thanks for their continued investment in local communities like Purvis. We also want to thank BISSELL Pet Foundation and Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation as well for providing critical support to our efforts. Also, thank you to Greater Good Charities for providing additional medical supplies, Pearl River County SPCA and Halo Pets for providing pet food, as well as Petco Love for providing the free DAPP/FVRCP vaccines. Southern Pines is honored to collaborate with all of these amazing organizations to support our community during this time.

A huge thank-you to our friends at the Purvis Multipurpose Center for partnering with us on a location for this event, even while they're still navigating storm damage to their own facilities.

And last but not least, to our amazing veterinary team who spent a scorching hot day helping local pet owners get what they needed: thank you!
