As summer winds down and a new school year begins, we’re looking back on a wonderful season of creativity at RiverArts! ☀️🎨🎶

It was a busy summer filled with music, art, movement, performance, and plenty of opportunities to try something new. At SummerArts, campers spent three weeks exploring everything from African drumming and fusion dance to filmmaking, improv, drawing, collage, storytelling, and more, while our music students kept learning and making music all summer long.

Now, we’re looking forward to everything ahead this fall!

Wishing all of our RiverArts students, families, teachers, and neighbors a wonderful start to the new school year. 🍎

What a month at SummerArts!

Over Weeks 2 and 3, campers explored everything from improv comedy, figure drawing, screenwriting, and voice to African drumming, fusion dance, collage, and storytelling, working alongside our incredible teaching artists and trying new ways to create, perform, and express themselves.

Each week culminated in a showcase where campers shared what they had been working on with family and friends, bringing an incredible few weeks of creativity and collaboration to a close.

Thank you to all of our campers, families, teaching artists, and everyone who helped make SummerArts 2026 such a special summer. We loved seeing what our campers created, and we hope to see you all again next year!

Just a handful of spots remain for Week 3 of SummerArts, August 17–21!

With Week 1 behind us and Week 2 already halfway through, SummerArts has been an incredible few weeks of creating, experimenting, performing, and exploring alongside our professional teaching artists. There’s still one more chance to be part of it this summer.

For Week 3, campers will explore African drumming with Kofi Donkor, fusion dance with Anna Mayta, storytelling through collage with Li Lu, and character development and creative writing with Ren Dara Santiago. From traditional rhythms and multicultural dance to mixed-media art and creating original stories, the week offers four very different ways to get creative.

SummerArts is open to students entering grades 3–9 and takes place in Hastings-on-Hudson. With only a few spots still available, we encourage families interested in Week 3 to register soon!

There are some new faces at RiverArts this summer, along with a fond farewell. 🌿

We’re grateful to Ecka Faulds, who has served as RiverArts’ Executive Director since 2024 and played an important role in rebuilding our programs and funding in the post-pandemic years. As Ecka heads to the West Coast for her next chapter as Director of Development at Ryman Arts Center, we wish her all the best!

We’re also excited to welcome several new members of the RiverArts team:

✨ Josh Santiago, Education and Operations Coordinator, who is helping keep our classes, camps, workshops, and registration running smoothly.

🎨 Devon Berkshire, our new Camp Director, who is leading SummerArts this year and helping shape the program’s future.

🌱 Piper Gunnarson, Interim Executive Director, who brings 20 years of experience leading nonprofit arts organizations and will work alongside our staff, board, and volunteers during this period of transition.

Please join us in thanking Ecka and welcoming Josh, Devon, and Piper to their new roles at RiverArts!
