CSEA members Maria Reyes, Travis Woodward, Jan Lawrence, and Meghan Cahill joined CSEA Staff Representative Frank Pizarro at the Workers Revive Democracy National Conference in Atlanta Georgia.

As the wealthy and powerful few continue to make life unaffordable for the rest of us, we know that working people have the solutions to build a future where we all thrive, and democracy is revived.

Since the beginning of 2025, Connecticut’s 17 billionaires have seen a 34% increase in their wealth.

In addition to reaping the benefits of the recent federal tax code changes, these billionaires are also benefiting from our state’s upside down tax policy.

We can change that by passing SB510 to create a 1.75% capital gains and dividends surcharge on the ultra-rich and SB84 to tie the volatility cap to a 5 year inflation- adjusted moving average, rather than just our current arbitrary number.

These two bills open up well over $1.3B/ year that we could invest in our communities and keep costs down for working families.

16 months. 17 CT Residents. $24.7B in wealth growth.

On this 2026 Tax Day, can’t we do better Connecticut?

It’s Senior Day at the Capitol and CSEA is back once again in our purple shirts to talk about the issues important to our members. This year we have been advocating on behalf of the 100,000 residents impacted by skyrocketing longterm care premiums.

CSEA represents 12,000 state retirees and is the largest and oldest retiree union in the state.

We love CSEA Day at the Capitol! Today we filled the halls with purple shirts to talk to legislators and show them what looks like. Members advocated on issues not just important to themselves personally, but issues that they know are important to other working families.
