We are still overwhelmed by the love, support, excitement, and positive energy shown by all the amazing families who came out to learn more about the We Back Outside Summer Enrichment Camp! 💛

Our team has been working extremely hard to create a safe, engaging, educational, and unforgettable summer experience for youth throughout Hampton Roads, and we cannot wait to get started!

🚨 IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR PARENTS 🚨

To officially secure your child’s camper spot for Summer 2026, we must receive:
✅ Completed Registration
✅ Initial Payment

📅 Deadline: June 10, 2026

Due to limited space, staffing, transportation planning, supplies, and activity preparation, spots will be reserved on a first-paid basis.

People see fishing… but what we’re really doing is healing. 🎣🌿

Our Therapeutic Recreation Program has never been “just about fishing.” It’s about restoring people mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually through structure, nature, mentorship, and meaningful connection.

In today’s world, so many children and families are overstimulated, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, and disconnected from themselves, from each other, and from nature. What many don’t realize is that nature itself has a direct impact on the brain and nervous system.

When youth spend time outdoors:
🌿 Stress hormones begin to decrease
🌿 Anxiety levels can lower
🌿 Breathing naturally slows down
🌿 Focus and emotional regulation improve
🌿 The nervous system begins to reset
🌿 Confidence and self-awareness increase

Fishing teaches patience.
Nature teaches presence.
Structure teaches discipline.
Teamwork teaches communication.
Stillness teaches emotional intelligence.

Through our program, youth are learning far more than recreational activities. They’re learning:
💡 Emotional regulation
💡 Leadership and accountability
💡 Conflict resolution
💡 Teamwork and communication
💡 Survival and life skills
💡 Entrepreneurship and economic mobility
💡 Family engagement and healthy bonding
💡 Respect for nature, self, and community

For many youth, this is the first time they’ve experienced peace without pressure. The first time they’ve slowed down enough to breathe deeply, think clearly, and feel emotionally safe.

In a world filled with chaos, overstimulation, violence, and emotional burnout, therapeutic recreation creates space for healing, connection, structure, and growth.

This work matters.
These experiences matter.
Our youth matter.

Sometimes healing doesn’t happen in an office.

🌿🎣 WOW… WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY! 🎣🌿

The Cook What You Catch Community Clean Up was an amazing success and we are beyond grateful for everyone who came out to support, volunteer, fellowship, and help make a difference in our community! ❤️

From the early morning clean up efforts to the laughter, networking, teamwork, and community fish fry, the love and unity shown throughout the day was truly inspiring.

Because of YOU:
✅ Our community was cleaned and beautified
✅ Youth experienced hands-on learning and teamwork
✅ Families connected in a positive environment
✅ Volunteers came together for a meaningful cause
✅ Memories were created that will last a lifetime

We want to sincerely thank every volunteer, parent, youth participant, sponsor, donor, supporter, and community partner who showed up and poured into this event. Your time, energy, generosity, and support do not go unnoticed.

Special thank you to everyone who donated supplies, helped cook, cleaned, served food, spread the word, and encouraged our mission. Community events like this remind us what can happen when people come together with purpose.

WOW… Hampton Roads really showed up for us! ❤️☀️🎣

We are beyond grateful for the incredible love, support, donations, networking, encouragement, and positive energy shown at our Community Fish Fry Fundraiser & We Back Outside Summer Enrichment Camp Open House.

Seeing the community come together the way it did truly meant the world to us. Because of your generosity, we are now able to help provide scholarships and opportunities for youth and families who genuinely need support this summer.

The food was amazing, the conversations were powerful, the connections were meaningful, and the turnout exceeded our expectations. Moments like this remind us what community is really about.

A huge THANK YOU to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, partner, parent, supporter, and community leader who contributed in any way. Whether you donated, shared the flyer, brought someone with you, or simply showed up, you helped make this event special.

We heard the cry for help and decided to come together to do something about it. ❤️

Families all across Hampton Roads are doing their best to navigate the rising cost of living while still trying to provide meaningful opportunities for their children. We understand that for many parents, even covering basic needs has become challenging in today’s economy.

That’s why we decided to host this Community Fish Fry Fundraiser to help raise scholarship funds for families who may need assistance enrolling their children in the We Back Outside Summer Enrichment Camp.

This is bigger than a fundraiser for us, it’s about community showing up for community.

If you feel led to support, we would truly love for you to come out, donate, spread the word, or simply show love. Every contribution helps create opportunities, experiences, mentorship, and safe spaces for youth throughout Hampton Roads.

The We Back Outside Summer Enrichment Camp and Community Fish Fry means so much to us because we genuinely love pouring into our youth, families, and neighborhoods. Every activity, partnership, meal, and opportunity has been planned with purpose, love, and community in mind.
