Hampton Professional Firefighters Local 2450 would like to extend congratulations to all 2026 graduates of the Va Fire Officers Academy, with special recognition to Local 2450 members Lt. Patrick Burch and M/FF Myles Bostic III. Each attendee is carefully selected by their department to participate in this prestigious program, which offers a week of valuable networking opportunities, classes, and mentorship. This experience is highly recommended for all officers and aspiring officers.

Tonight, Hampton City Council recognized 10 of our uniformed and civilian members who deployed across five states from Virginia to Florida assisting in the preparation, response, and mitigation of Hurricanes Helene and Milton in September and October. These members represent two Federal teams (FEMA VATF-2 US&R and DHHS VA1 DMAT) and two regional teams (VCC Radio Cache and HRIMT). Their skills were used in search, rescue, HAZMAT, planning, healthcare, communications, emergency and incident management, and others. These members represent the best of the best in their specialties and were deployed for four to 20 days before returning home.

We thank you for your dedication to the Division, your craft, and to humanity!

If you have not logged into the Employee Navigator to check your health insurance today it’s the last day. YOU MUST DO SO OR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MAY NOT HAVE INSURANCE NEXT YEAR!!! Do it today!!! If you have any questions text me and I will see if I can walk you through it. I will be at the burns until atleast after lunch but available to help after. When I went in Joe, Jaidyn or I had any of our insurance, if I had not checked we would not have insurance next year. Make sure to check today!!! It has to be done by 11:59.

Welcome home after being deployed for 3 weeks to assist with Hurricane Helene, Local 2450 President Lt. Eddie VanEs Jr, Brothers Lt. Chris Reavis and Capt. Chris Marshall. Thank you for the sacrifice to help others while being away from your families.

Several of Hampton Fire's members, along with many others across Hampton Roads, are supporting disaster and relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene. FEMA VATF-2 (Virginia Task Force) Urban Search and Rescue (US&R), DHHS VA-1 DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team), HRIMT (Hampton Roads Incident Management Team), and VCC (Virginia Communications Cache) have deployed in areas stretching from Florida to North Carolina. They are collectively providing search and rescue, medical, incident management, and radio communications assistance to those areas most in need.

Please keep our members, those assisting in search, rescue, and recovery efforts, and all those impacted by this traumatic weather event in your thoughts.

REST IN PEACE CHIEF CHRIS EDDY-KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY-TRUCK FIRE & EXPLOSION.

Greene County (Georgia) Battalion Chief Chris Eddy was killed in that truck fire explosion this morning just before 1000 hours. It occurred on Ga. Route 15 just on the outskirts of the city limits of Greensboro.

NOTE: While it may appear elsewhere, we have pulled the video from Facebook for now out of respect for his family and his brother and sister firefighters. Our intent - as has been since 1997- is to learn and share what we can when looking at publicly posted media such as that. However, to give the family and his brother and sister firefighters time to deal with this terrible loss still allows us to share it in the near future - so we can all learn from this horrible event. Regardless of the type of line of duty death - there are a few better ways to honor the loss of any firefighter than by learning all we can. 🙏

REMINDER: While details are far from clear at this point, this is another general but grave reminder of the risk and danger we face when responding to and operating at a vehicle fire. It is also a reminder that size up, carrier information, and Firefighter or equipment placement are vital. Consider handines, and approach (corners vs side or front/rear)—or if you decide to deck gun it-or cannot fight it....it all depends on information, size up, and resources. Rest in Peace Chief Eddy.
