The community 'fridge at the The Church of the Holy Apostles and St. Stephen needs you! Please help out if you can.

Our Community Fridge & Pantry Could Use Some Love!

Did you know that 15–25 people visit our Community Fridge & Pantry every day? We are grateful to be able to serve our neighbors and provide access to food for those who need it.

While we have wonderful people who occasionally help stock our fridge and pantry, we could use a little extra help to keep the shelves filled and food available for everyone who stops by. Food can be placed in the fridge/pantry anytime.

Items We Need:
Canned goods and nonperishable food
Shelf-stable items
Prepared, ready-to-eat meals
Frozen items for the freezer
Any refrigerated items for the fridge
fresh fruits and vegetables (place in fridge)
Bread (place in freezer)

Please remember: All prepared meals must be labeled with the name of the meal, the date prepared, and any allergens (such as nuts, dairy, or gluten).

Whether you donate food, help stock the shelves, or spread the word, every little bit makes a difference! Together, we can continue supporting our neighbors and making sure no one in our community goes hungry.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is October 24, providing Maryland residents with an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted and expired medications. For residents who need a disposal option before or after the event, MyOldMeds offers free, year-round resources for safe medication disposal.

Through the MyOldMeds locator, residents can find 425 secure medication disposal sites across Maryland. Many of these sites are located in places people already visit regularly, such as pharmacies, grocery stores, and medical clinics. MyOldMeds.com also has a Maryland resource page that provides information on safely managing medications at home and properly preparing them for disposal.

Southwest Emergency Services is asking for donations to restock their pantry. Please help if you can:

Our pantry needs you! Demand is growing fast, and we're already two weeks ahead of our usual food distribution.

🥫 Drop off food Mon, Wed & Fri, 9:00 – 11:30 am at 1201 Maple Ave, behind AUMC Church (back of the parking lot, enter off Shelbourne Rd). Most needed: canned fish and meat, cereal, pasta and sauce, peanut butter, jelly.

💛 Can't make it over? $50 buys many meals. Donate online through our website, sweshelps.org, or our donations page at givebutter.com/SWES . All donations are tax deductible.

An update from our friends at Relay Improvement Association:
"The forecast for Sunday is looking a little drizzly. But fear not. : Relay Day is happening rain or shine. If it rains, we’re simply moving the party indoors!

Which means you can still enjoy the Animal & Critter Show, Dog Costume Parade, Chicken P**p Bingo. pumpkin painting, crafts, the fabulous gift basket raffle, and plenty of food and drink.

Come for the pumpkin painting. Stay for the chicken p**p bingo. Eat a snow cone. Test your luck at the raffle. Have some sangria. Basically, everything you need for a proper Relay Day.

So bring the kids and your neighbors.

We’ll bring the fun."
