Milwaukee Scottish Country Dancers

Milwaukee Scottish Country Dancers You don't have to be Scottish or have a partner to enjoy Scottish Country Dancing! In addition, we occasionally perform at weddings, dinners and folk festivals.

The Milwaukee Scottish Country Dancers is a social group that enjoys learning and dancing the traditional jigs, reels and strathspeys of Scotland. We host a fall and a spring dance as well as several dance parties throughout the year. Classes are open to anyone interested in Scottish Country Dance. Beginners are welcome to watch and to dance. It is not necessary to have a partner to participate. You don't have to be Scottish!

MkeSCD@Zao class welcomed a visiting 9 yr old who pick up SCD so quickly! We also welcomed a couple dancers back that we haven't seen for a while. Mirror reels were a nice formation to learn together. We only have one more class at Mke Zao Church and starting in July we will be at a different facility -- they are selling the church. We have leads on some possible studios or gyms. More information to follow soon -- please stay tuned and check the website. 🧡

It was my sincerest honor and pleasure to tutor with these 4 RSCDS Teaching Candidates on their Unit 2 & 3 course. Each passed the exams which allows them to move onto their next Unit. Three now have the Part 1 Certificate and can teach dances in their home groups, effectively growing our Midwest teachers significantly! Bravo to all! Thanks to the angels who danced as students/angels for these budding teachers! Thanks to Dave, fiddle (not pictured 😢) for playing for exams and the course, allowing all to experience having a class musician. Thanks to Suzie, our amazing course organizer. Thanks to Hugh, Kate, Janice, Nancy, Suzie for expertly filling out the sets in Unit 2. Thanks to Kate for being the consulting teacher for the exam assignments. Thanks to the Chicago branch, Madison branch, and Milwaukee affiliate for you financial support of this process! Thanks to TAC & RSCDS who trained me to be a tutor, allowing all of this to happen. REMINDER: There is NO CLASS Monday, June 8, 2026 for MkeSCD@Journeys! We will be filled with the joy of dancing from our Midwest Scottish Weekend and resting (soaking) our feet! Class will resume on Monday, June 15. If by Thursday, you are missing the dancing fun, fitness, and friendship, join us at the MkeSCD@Zao class June 11 at 7PM – it would be an ideal day to bring a new dancer to try SCD!

MkeSCD@Zao had a few "lasts" at class tonight! Last class before the Midwest Scottish Weekend! Last exam lesson taught by Shelby -- reel of 3 on the sides from the center (LSh to 1st cnr) -- brilliantly taught! Then we put that knowledge into learning Sugar Candie and General Stuart's Reel (RSh to 2nd cnr)! See you at Midwest Scottish Weekend tomorrow! 🧡 We are ready! Next week MkeSCD@Zao class starts all new dances so it is a perfect time for new dancers to join us!
