💧Wai & We: A Community Gathering for Water! 💦

Join this SATURDAY for a free, day-long gathering celebrating Wai (water) and the connections that sustain our communities, from mauka to makai.

This special event brings together scientists, cultural practitioners, water professionals, community organizations, and ʻohana to learn, share knowledge, and explore how we can care for our precious water resources.

🌿 Morning Conference ~ 9 AM–12 PM
Hear from local practitioners, scientists, and cultural leaders through presentations, talk story, and a community panel. Registration required; lunch provided for registered attendees.

💦 Community Wai Festival ~ 12:30–3 PM
Bring the whole ʻohana for hands-on learning, stream exploration, water-quality testing, community booths, live music, and activities for all ages!
✨ The afternoon festival is FREE and open to everyone, no RSVP required!

Enjoy a day of learning, connection, & exploring your relationship with Wai. Every one of us has a role to play in caring for the waters that connect our ʻāina and communities. 💙

There’s nothing better than knowing the work we do is making a difference, not just for our community, but for the incredible landowners who trust us with their abundance. 🌱

One of our clients shared how much she appreciates our team always coming with aloha, and how grateful she is that we can help cut and harvest her bananas when the heavy stocks have become too much for her to manage on her own. 🍌

A two-day workshop for Maui farmers, makers, small-business owners, cultural practitioners and nonprofits interested in working with the visitor industry will take place Oct. 30–31 at the J. Walter Cameron Center in Wailuku.

🌱 Common Ground Collective is proud to support the Fall 2026 Healthy Kids Running Series! 🍊🍌

We’ll be donating approximately 100 lbs of fresh, locally harvested, grab-and-go fruit for each of the five race days at Pōmaikaʻi Elementary School, helping fuel the 150–200+ keiki who participate each week! Depending on what’s in season, runners can look forward to fresh bananas, tangerines, oranges and starfruit.✨

🎃 With pumpkin season in full swing this October, we decided it was the perfect time to talk about PALAʻAI/SQUASH!!! 🍂🎃

🌱Palaʻai is the Hawaiian name commonly associated with pumpkin and squash. From tender summer squash to hearty winter pumpkins, these plants can provide nourishing food for your ʻohana while making great use of space in a productive backyard. And in Hawaiʻi, there’s SO much more to squash than just your classic pumpkin! Here are some favorites 👇

🍃KABOCHA: Given a nutrient-rich mound, healthy soil, and enough room to grow, kabocha can produce delicious, dense-fleshed squash with a hard outer rind and an impressive shelf life. Properly matured and stored, these winter squash can last for months at room temperature!

🥒 LUFFA: Delicious when harvested young and cooked like zucchini, but leave it on the vine to fully mature and it becomes a natural, biodegradable sponge! How cool is that?!

🥬 CHAYOTE: A vigorous, abundant grower in Upcountry Maui, chayote is a versatile addition to soups, stir-fries, and so many other dishes.

🌱 ʻOPO & OTHER GOURDS: These productive plants can yield large, plentiful fruits and offer even more opportunities to grow food right at home.

🪴 One plant family, so many possibilities! From feeding your family today to storing food for the months ahead, squash is a great reminder that food sovereignty starts with learning what grows well where we live. 🌺
