The mission of the Gulf Shores Woman’s Club (GSWC) is to foster the civic, social, and educational betterment of the general community. We are an all-volunteer organization founded in 1948 as a nonprofit corporation. Our primary community service areas are Arts & C

ulture, Civic Engagement & Outreach, Education & Libraries, Environment, and Health & Wellness. The Gulf Shores Woman’s Club is affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) and in the South District of the Alabama Federation of Women’s Club (AFWC). GFWC clubs and clubwomen are the heart and fabric of not only the Federation, but the communities in which they live and work. By Living the Volunteer Spirit, GFWC clubwomen transform lives each day, not simply with monetary donations, but with hands-on tangible projects that provide immediate impact. With a grassroots approach that often thinks locally but impacts globally, GFWC, its clubs and members remain committed to serving as a force for global good, as it has done since its formation. With more than 60,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state, the District of Columbia, and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members work in their own communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage civic involvement, and work toward world peace and understanding. The GFWC organization was founded in 1890. Our own GSWC was founded in 1948 and federated in 1949. Our club gives every effort to involve our membership in service projects that not only meet the needs of our community, but also the interests, talents, and skills of our members. We have various events during the year to raise funds for local charities and scholarships.
