Eileen D. Brown Charitable Trust

Eileen D. Brown Charitable Trust This Trust is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Environmental Conservation Organization. This 52-acre nonprofit 501(c)(3) Charitable Trust was established by Eileen D.

Brown. Most of the year, she resided in New York, but during the summer months she found solace and peace at her family property in Griswold. The road itself is named after her father, Colonel Brown. She longed to "conserve, maintain and enhance the physical, aesthetic, environmental and natural resources of the land." Another desire Eileen had for her property involves the public. She also longed

for functions to be held there such as concerts, lectures, nature study, bird watching and other activities. Her love of art, gardens, nature, and history were apparent in her home and writings. The Board of Trustees are working with the USDA and NRCS on various land conservation projects such as invasive species removal, encouraging native species to flourish, and promoting the natural habitat for the various wildlife that can be found in the area. Fields have been prepared and planted with pollinators to encourage agricultural economies and support a healthy ecosystem. Trails are being blazed and prepared for hikers to enjoy, and future projects include building a pavilion, Community/Conservation Educational Center and Museum and installing gardens. Other projects are being developed as well to bring to fruition the wishes of Eileen D. If you are interested in volunteering, please send us a message!
