Last call for favorite names. Looking like it’s gonna be Michael and Jackson but Frank and Bean, Wooly and Nelson, are close. Meanwhile the boys are getting acquainted with their new pasture mates. One of these little guys is still struggling but getting a little stronger every day. Please send him some positive energy!

JUNE 14 — SUNDAY REFLECTION

Animals live very differently than people do. They are not worrying about five years from now. They are not replaying yesterday endlessly. They respond to safety, presence, care, and trust.

Sometimes sanctuary animals remind us to slow down enough to notice the life directly in front of us.

JUNE 12 — SUMMER AT THE SANCTUARY

Summer changes the rhythm of sanctuary life. Fans begin running constantly. Water checks increase. Shade becomes important. The animals spend long evenings outside under the fading light.

Every season brings its own needs. And every season reminds us how connected we all are to nature.

JUNE 11 — AGING ANIMALS

Older animals deserve gentleness too. At sanctuaries, many senior animals finally experience peace after years of hard living. Slower mornings. Safe shelter. Reliable food. Kind handling.

There is something deeply moving about watching an older animal finally rest.

JUNE 10 — WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

This morning started before sunrise.

Water buckets needed refilling before temperatures climbed. Feed needed preparing. Medications needed organizing.

The animals, of course, were already awake and waiting.

People sometimes imagine sanctuaries as peaceful places — and they are — but they are also places of constant responsibility.

Every single day requires resources.

If you would like to help support the daily care of the animals at October Dream Sanctuary, we would be deeply grateful.

JUNE 9 — THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WORK

Sanctuary work is often physically exhausting.

Heavy feed bags. Mud. Heat. Cleaning. Unexpected emergencies.

But the people who dedicate themselves to this work continue because they know every animal here matters.

Compassion is not always glamorous.

Sometimes it looks like showing up tired anyway.

Lots of great name suggestions but not one duplicate. Guess I’m going to have to pick. I can be bought!

JUNE 8 — SECOND CHANCES

Many animals who arrive at sanctuaries have experienced instability.

Frequent moves. Neglect. Fear. Loneliness.

One of the most beautiful things to witness is what happens when they finally realize they are safe. The nervous pacing slows. The guardedness softens. Personality begins to emerge again.

Second chances change lives.
