✨ Junior Guild September Meeting✨

We had a wonderful and informative September meeting with Lt. Sheldon Mayfield of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Officeas our guest speaker.

Lt. Mayfield spoke with our Junior Guild girls about **personal safety, situational awareness, trusting your instincts, and knowing how to protect yourself if you ever find yourself in an unsafe situation.He shared practical tips on being aware of your surroundings and making smart decisions—lessons that are so important as these young ladies become more independent.

One of the goals of Junior Guild is to help prepare our girls not only to serve their community, but to grow into confident, responsible, and capable young women. We are so thankful to Lt. Mayfield for taking the time to invest in them and share his knowledge and experience.

💙 **A BEAUTIFUL AFTERNOON OF SERVICE, JOY & CONNECTION!** 💙

Our Junior Guild girls had the privilege of participating in the GARC Back-to-School Party, and what an incredible afternoon it was!

Since 1955, the **Griffin Area Resource Center (GARC)** has served adults with developmental disabilities, working to empower each individual to achieve greater independence and meaningful connection within our community.

We were especially proud to have a historic number of Guild girls volunteer for this event! They came ready to serve, but what they received in return was something even greater. The afternoon was filled with laughter, dancing, conversations, new friendships, and so much JOY. ❤️

We are so proud of these young ladies for giving their time and, more importantly, their hearts. Their afternoon of service became an afternoon of **love, inclusion, connection, and memories we won't soon forget.**

Thank you, GARC, for allowing our Junior Guild girls to be part of such a special day. We already can't wait to come back! 💙

🌸 **WELCOME BACK, Junior Guild!** 🌸

What a wonderful way to begin a brand-new year of **friendship, leadership, and service!** ❤️

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming our newest Jr. Guild members and their mothers at our New Member Mother-Daughter Tea, followed by our first regular meeting of the year.

We are so excited to have our returning members back and to welcome a wonderful group of new young ladies into Jr. Guild!

We’re looking forward to a year filled with meaningful service, new friendships, special memories, and opportunities to make a difference throughout our community.

A very big thank you to our social chair Ashlyn Maddock for all her hard work with our Kentucky Derby theme!

🎓 Senior Spotlight: Olivia Vickers 🎓

Join us in celebrating Olivia Vickers and her exciting future ahead!

Olivia will be attending Georgia Southern University after graduating from Spalding County High School, where she plans to pursue a degree in Radiologic Sciences 🩻✨

Some of Olivia’s favorite Junior Guild memories include the Big/Little Reveals and helping at the GARC parties, where she enjoyed building friendships and serving others in the community.

Through volunteering and participating in service projects, Olivia learned the importance of helping others and staying involved in her community—lessons that will continue to guide her in both her career and life.

We are so proud of you, Olivia, and can’t wait to see all you accomplish in this next chapter! 💙

We’re proud to celebrate Ella Torres and the bright future ahead!

After graduation, she plans to attend Southern Crescent Technical College to pursue their Esthetician Program, following her passion in the beauty industry. 💄✨

One of her most meaningful memories was helping with the GARC parties, where she learned an important life lesson — to cherish how precious life is and to appreciate the little moments that bring joy. 💛

Her time has been filled with growth, perspective, and heart, and we can’t wait to see all she accomplishes next! 🎓✨

Reminder — Today is the Deadline

Today, May 1, is the last day to join the Griffin-Spalding Historical Society at the Family/Dual membership level in order to receive an invitation to apply for the 2026–2027 Junior Guild.

Membership must be completed by 11:59 PM tonight, and you must check the box on the application indicating you have a daughter or granddaughter interested in Junior Guild.

Junior Guild is open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and space is limited each year.

Baylor was selected as the recipient of the McLeRoy, Inc. scholarship. Her inspiring essay on success not only reflects her depth of character but also highlights her faith and detailed future goals. 🌟 Senior Spotlight: Kate Wheaton 🌟

Let’s celebrate Kate Wheaton and all she has accomplished! Kate will be graduating from St. George's Episcopal School and will attend the University of Georgia.

A favorite memory for Kate was volunteering at the Jog for Max and Jude alongside her friends — a meaningful experience filled with service and friendship. 💛

Through her time in Junior Guild, Kate shares that she has gained the confidence to speak in front of crowds, built lasting relationships, and developed a deep respect for the women who have served before her.
