**Note: To celebrate both the energy of pride month and the upcoming arrival of Ryn and Jozlyn’s new baby, we have decided to forgo voting for Litha and present Forest Euphoria as the book for this sabbat. This makes the process easier on Ryn and Joz as they make final preparations for baby, and gives everyone more time to read the book before June 20th. We thank you for your understanding, and voting will return for Lughnasadh’s book club.**

🔥 happy beltane! 🌸

today is may 1st, beltane, the fire festival halfway between the spring equinox and summer solstice. if you’re in the southern hemisphere, you’re celebrating samhain today instead. the veil is thin during both!

beltane marked the true start of summer for pastoral cultures, when farmers drove cattle to summer pastures and lit great bonfires to bless and protect them. these days it’s less about the cattle and more about the energy underneath: aliveness, desire, creative fire, the feeling of something ripening, and fertility.

🌿 this is the moment things stop becoming and start being. the themes are earthy, grounded and alive: passion, sacred union, creativity, abundance that’s almost fully in swing as we near the summertime. beltane is a day that asks you to be present in your body (if you’re reading our beltane book club pick - this is all about somatics!)

🕯️ to mark the day: light something with intention. put flowers somewhere meaningful. eat something fresh and sweet like some local strawberries and let the juice dribble down your chin. move your body. pull some cards and ask what’s awakening in you, what wants to grow right now.

as always, these are just suggestions and ideas. none of it is required. no holiday demands an elaborate production for it to be valid. recognizing and taking a moment to observe the shifting energies and turning of the wheel is enough.

it’s also a flower full moon tonight! how exciting! 🌕🌼

how are you spending today? 🔥💐

🌷 celebrating the spring equinox: balance & renewal 🌷

today, march 20th, marks the spring equinox, the moment when day and night are equal, bringing a shift toward warmth, growth, and renewal. while many pagans celebrate this time as ostara, a more modern seasonal festival, the equinox itself has been observed across cultures for millennia.

☀️ what happens on the equinox?
on this day, the sun crosses the celestial equator, making day and night nearly equal in length. from here, the days grow longer, signaling the return of life and fertility to the land.

🌸 themes of the equinox:
• balance between light & dark
• renewal, rebirth, & fresh starts
• fertility & abundance
• awakening & new growth

💐 ways to celebrate:
⚖️ honor balance – reflect on what areas of your life need harmony and how to welcome change.
🌱 plant seeds – literally or metaphorically! start a garden, set intentions, or begin a new project.
🥚 embrace symbols of renewal – eggs, sprouts, flowers, and fresh foods connect to seasonal energy.
🕯️ light candles or a bonfire – acknowledge the growing power of the sun and your own personal growth.
🐦 connect with nature – go for a walk, leave an offering, or simply sit outside and notice the shift in the air.
🎨 get creative – paint eggs, craft a nature altar, or make something that embodies your hopes for the season.
🎴 pull some cards - do a spread of oracle or tarot cards to give insight into this upcoming season.

whether you call today the spring equinox, ostara, or simply observe the turning of the wheel, this day is a reminder that life is ever-changing, and so are we. how are you celebrating the equinox this year? 🌷💛

❄️ celebrating imbolc: a time of renewal and light 🌸

imbolc, celebrated on february 1st or when it falls astrologically, marks a halfway point between winter and spring. it’s a time to honor the returning light, set intentions for growth and embrace the energy of renewal.

🕯️ light candles
imbolc is a fire festival, so lighting candles is a beautiful way to connect with the season. try some color magic - white candles symbolize new beginnings, while red represents passion and life. let their glow remind you of the longer days coming ahead.

🧼 clean your space
this is the perfect time for a light “spring cleaning.” clear out clutter, open your windows (even briefly), and invite fresh energy into your home. cleaning your space can feel like cleaning your spirit! try preparing for new opportunities and growth.

🥛 cook with dairy (or non-dairy alternatives)
dairy has strong connections to imbolc, but you can easily substitute plant-based options! imagine creamy soups, enriched breads, cheeses, lots of butter, or a cozy hot chocolate. it’s all about nourishing yourself and celebrating the abundance to come.

📜 honor brigid
imbolc is sacred to brigid, the celtic goddess of poetry, healing, and smithcraft. you can honor her by lighting a candle in her name, weaving a Brigid’s cross, creating something artistic, or leaving a small offering of milk, bread, or seeds. take a moment to reflect on her qualities and how they inspire you.

as the days grow longer and the earth stirs with life as we step out of winter’s hibernation, imbolc reminds us to embrace hope, creativity and the potential for growth within ourselves. 🌱

how are you celebrating this year? stay safe and warm with all the snow of winter’s last hurrahs! 🌨️
