In the first 24 to 48 hours of a baby’s life, behind the quiet moments and first cuddles, a critical safeguard takes place.

Newborn screening tests check for hidden genetic, metabolic, and congenital disorders in those initial days, long before any visible symptoms appear. This timing matters deeply. Detecting these conditions immediately gives doctors the window they need to begin treatment before severe symptoms, lifelong disabilities, or tragic loss occur.

Across the globe, screening programs protect roughly 40 million babies each year, delivering life-saving interventions for nearly 40,000 infants.

A simple test in those first few hours can quietly protect a child's entire future. This Newborn Screening Awareness Month, we recognize the life-changing impact of early detection and the protection every infant deserves from the very start.

Consider this your sign to take a deep breath and check in with yourself.

It’s so easy to live on autopilot, ignoring exhaustion or anxiety just to get through the day. Protecting your mental health means stopping to admit when you are actually overwhelmed. Unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, and give yourself a break.

No pressure to perform or pretend here. Are you doing okay today? 💚

Feeling overwhelmed? Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for yourself is simply pause. ❤️

When everything feels like too much, give yourself permission to step away from the noise for a moment. Close your eyes, take a slow breath, and allow your body and mind to settle. You don’t have to figure everything out right now, you can simply be present and give yourself a moment to breathe.

Take one more breath. Stay in this moment. Give yourself the time and kindness you deserve.

Watch the full reel and take a moment to reconnect with yourself.

Together, let’s continue creating spaces where compassion, understanding, and self-care help everyone feel supported and valued.
