I discovered this photo last week in a Box of greenfield photos. Is this the Oak Park Track? It looks too wide to me. The car looks like Barney Oldfield's Green Dragon racer. Barney Oldfield did exhibitions all over the country showing off his record breaking speedster.

Sheldon Carbee's home on East Road, where I bought my Christmas Tree for years. The tree farm is still open for Christmas Tree harvesting.

The Greenfield Historical Society and the Stephenson Memorial Library are teaming up to host a nostalgic journey into Greenfield’s past as viewed through the eyes of a child. Join GHS members, friends, and neighbors on Saturday, May 9th, from 2:00 PM to about 3:00 PM at the library for an afternoon celebrating what it was really like to grow up here.

Bruce is diligently assembling a slide show of kids growing up in Greenfield, while I've been digging up Greenfield School class photos dating from the late 19th century through the 1980s. We’ll also try to locate and dust off some shots of youth organizations and sports teams. And last but not least, please bring along your own childhood photos to share.

Even if you aren’t a Greenfield native, please come and catch a glimpse of local life from decades past. Our programs are always a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. And this one is extra special since we are presenting it in partnership with the terrific staff at Stephenson Memorial Library.

If you enjoyed our previous gatherings, prepare for another memorable event. It's guaranteed to be a fantastic blast from the past!
