Apparently its my first day working with raccoons. Never saw this coming the first, second or third time Farrah took it from me before I could hang it. She is no longer allowed to have this bowl...

Joey and Rocket LOVE this canvas tarp from Lowes! It was easy to wrap it around the branches and to secure. It is also holding up extremely well over the last month, especially with Joey being over 30 pounds 💙😅

🦝 Oaklynn Update 🦝

First, we're so sorry for the delay in updating everyone. ❤️ We wanted to wait until we knew if we were witnessing a miracle before sharing her story.

Our sweet Oaklynn has been fighting for her life. Over the past week, she has endured an unbelievable amount of medical care, including multiple blood panels, CBCs, chemistry profiles, X-rays, ultrasounds, PCR testing for infectious diseases, two blood transfusions, hospitalization, IV and subcutaneous fluids, sedation, pain management, antibiotics, appetite stimulants, liver support, Vitamin K, prednisone, and around-the-clock monitoring by an incredible veterinary team.

There were moments we truly didn't know if she would make it. We even had the talk about what is too much to put her through and decided on one last transfusion...

We loaded her up, grabbed another raccoon for the transfusion and walked into the vet terrified. We ran her labs first and there were several improvements which shocked everyone. She improved enough to not even need a transfusion and got to come home with some medication adjustments to remove a few, plus help with nausea. Every little bite she ate, everytime she drank, every movement, every potty.. we couldn't believe she was finally getting better.

It was definitely a miracle and she's still here and it couldn't have happened without all of you! ❤️ We still don't have every answer on what the cause was, but she continues to fight and we're not giving up on her.

As a small nonprofit wildlife rescue and sanctuary, emergencies like this are incredibly difficult. Our current veterinary balance is $4,668.56 and until this balance is paid, we are unable to take in additional dogs or wildlife rescue cases that desperately need our help.

If you'd like to help, donations can be made directly to Eau Gallie Veterinary Hospital (321-259-8492) for Oaklynn's or through the donation link in our Linktree (https://linktr.ee/Islanddogfl).

We also could really use linens and kibble if anyone has some they would like to drop off. Sunday we will be catching up and will be accepting donations from 11-4. You can also come by and leave them at the gate or text 412-913-8690.

Also, if you would like to hang out with or meet any of our dogs 🐕🐶 who are available for adoption, they would love the attention! Just text the number above and we will block off a time for you.

Most importantly, please keep the prayers coming. We truly believe they've carried her this far and are beyond grateful for everyone who has assisted along the way.

Thank you for loving Oaklynn as much as we do. Your support, prayers, and encouragement mean the world to us. 🦝❤️

Oaklynn Update 🦝❤️

We wanted to give everyone an update on our sweet Oaklynn.

Oaklynn is back home where she belongs after spending time in the hospital. While we're so thankful she's home, she still has a long road ahead of her. She remains anemic and her liver values are still concerning, so she's not out of the woods yet. Tomorrow we will run anothet round of bloodwork and are praying it is better news. We're continuing medications, monitoring her closely, and giving her the specialized care she needs around the clock.

Despite everything she's been through, Oaklynn continues to show us just how strong she is. If you've ever met our little ambassador, you know she has a way of stealing hearts with her snuggles and gentle spirit. She's a fighter, and we're not giving up on her.

Please continue to keep Oaklynn in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers. Every share, donation, and word of encouragement means the world to us and helps provide the diagnostics, medications, and supportive care she needs.

Thank you for standing beside Oaklynn and our rescue family. We promise to keep you updated as she continues her journey. ❤️🦝

Oaklynn, Matty, Fern and the whole Island Dog family wanted to say a huge thank you to whoever donated the MAM bottles and water bottle for Oaklynn! We would love to know who you are so we can thank you personally. Because of your kindness, she now has her donated fountain, bowl, and water bottle to help encourage as much hydration as possible, which is so important for her recovery.
