Happy Halloween from GEF! 🎃👻 Wishing everyone a fun, safe night filled with treats (and not too many tricks)!

And don’t forget to fall back this weekend! An extra hour of sleep? Now THAT’S a treat! ⏰🍬

Unless you have kids who don’t understand daylight saving time and will wake up at the same time anyway. In that case… our condolences. 😂

🚨🐝 BREAKING NEWS: MOVE OVER, SHARK TANK. THERE'S A NEW TANK IN TOWN!

And today's entrepreneurs? Hoffman Elementary School students with some BIG ideas for RECESS! 💡

It's BUZZ TANK DAY at Hoffman School!

Inspired by Shark Tank, students have been dreaming up their own recess clubs, working with parent volunteers to develop their proposals, and preparing to pitch their ideas for approval (and funding, if needed!).

Today is the big day! These young innovators are stepping into The Buzz Tank to make their case and hopefully turn their ideas into reality.

💚 So where does Glenview Education Foundation come in?

The Buzz Tank is an extension of Hoffman's GEF-funded Recess Clubs program, which gives students opportunities to explore new interests, connect with classmates, and make recess even more engaging.

And now, students are getting to help shape what comes next!

Think about it: creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, public speaking, and a little entrepreneurial spirit… all wrapped up in RECESS.

One GEF-funded idea inspiring even more big ideas. Now THAT'S an investment we can get behind! 🙌

👏 A special shoutout to Hoffman librarian Paula Smeltekop, the creative force behind The Buzz Tank, for bringing this experience to life! And a huge thank-you to the parent volunteers who shared their time, ideas, and expertise to help these young entrepreneurs get pitch-ready.

We can't wait to see what these Hoffman Hornets dream up! 🐝💛

💚 Speaking of investing in big ideas… GEF's Annual Fund Drive is happening NOW! Help us fund innovative programs like this and more for Glenview School District 34 students.

🚨 IT'S OFFICIAL! FALL GRANT CLYCLE IS CLOSED AND APPLICATIONS ARE IN!

And... OMG. YOU. GUYS. 🤯

💰 MORE THAN $450,000 IN GRANT FUNDING REQUESTED!

That's how much our Glenview School District 34 educators are dreaming up in innovative ideas and opportunities for our students. And we LOVE to see it! 💚

Now comes the hard part.

Every application goes through a thoughtful review process, and with so much potential on the table, we've got some tough decisions ahead.

Here's where YOU come in. 👈

We'd love nothing more than to say YES to as many deserving, well-vetted ideas as possible.

Because while not every idea will meet our funding criteria, we don't want a lack of funding to stand in the way of the ones that do.

💚 And that's why our Annual Fund Drive matters more than ever! (You know, that thing we've been telling you about while trying not to be TOO pushy... but also being a little pushy because, well... THE KIDS. 😂)

Your donation could be the extra push that turns another teacher's big idea into something extraordinary for D34 kids.

✨ Help us make more YESes possible! (Pretty please! 🙏)

👉 Donate today! We'll put the link in the comments to make it easy.

To every educator who applied: THANK YOU for thinking beyond the textbook! We're so proud to be part of a community that continues to dream big for its kids.

📣 Missed this cycle? Our Spring Grant Cycle is coming. Stay tuned!

📞 We know you don't want a call from us. So let's make sure you don't get one. 😂

On November 3, GEF is bringing back a classic: the good old-fashioned Phone-a-Thon. Actual phone calls. From actual people. Asking you to donate for all the amazing reasons we've been talking your ears off about for the last month (and beyond).

We know. Nobody's sitting around hoping for another fundraising call.

So let's make a deal.

💚 Donate to GEF before November 3, and we'll take you off our call list.

You get to skip the call. We get your support for the incredible learning opportunities GEF helps bring to District 34 students.

Same great cause. One less phone call. Sounds like a win-win!

📵 SKIP THE CALL. DONATE TODAY.

CONFIDENTLY INCORRECT: D34 EDITION

The confidence. The conviction. The absolutely questionable facts. 🤣

We asked Glenview School District 34 parents to anonymously share the most hilariously incorrect things their kids have taught them, and WOW. Apparently, we've got some very confident little experts among us.

From prehistoric history to teacher living arrangements, these kids have ANSWERS. 😂

Now it's YOUR turn! We know you've got stories, too.

👇 Our very unscientific, completely unofficial GEF Parent Survey is linked in the comments. Share your stories anonymously so we can all laugh together. Because seriously, who else would believe this stuff?!

💚 And since we have your attention... did we mention we're in the middle of our 2026 Annual Fund Drive? GEF supports D34 kids all year long, and we'd love your support in return. Visit our website (gef34.org) to donate today!

Reading about engineering is one thing.

Actually building something and figuring out how it works? That's a whole different lesson. 🔨

GEF helps turn concepts into hands-on experiences for Glenview School District 34 students.

💚 Our Annual Fund Drive helps us keep building on these opportunities. (See what we did there? 😉)

Help us keep learning beyond the textbook! Donation link in the comments. ⬇️

Reading about how plants grow? 🌱

How about growing your own food while exploring STEM, nutrition, and where our food comes from?

GEF helps bring hands-on learning experiences like hydroponic farming into D34 schools, connecting science, technology, and healthy eating in ways a textbook alone can't.

💚 Your Annual Fund donations help make learning like this possible!

Learning about the solar system from a textbook? Great.

Experiencing it from inside a planetarium? Even better. 🪐✨

That's the difference GEF-supported learning can make for Glenview School District 34 students.

YES, WE'RE ASKING. 💚 Please support our Annual Fund Drive. Donation link in the comments! ⬇️

🎃 A friendly October PSA from your friends at GEF...

According to our highly unscientific Halloween Parent Panic Index™, we're STILL in the Smart Shopper phase. But that window is closing, dear friends. ⏰

The good news? Halloween is on a Saturday! 🎉 No dragging candy-hungover kids into school the next morning!

The bad news? Glenview School District 34 celebrations are FRIDAY. That's one LESS day to get those costumes together. 😬

Consider yourself warned. Don't say we didn't tell you. 😂

And if your kids' costumes are already purchased, delivered AND tried on? We salute you. 🫡
