The new edition of the Directory of Chicago Ethnic Organizations is CAER’s first project.

Resources on the Chicago metro area's immigrant, racial and ethnic groups designed for everyone and anyone wanting to know more about the region's cultural diversity. CAER was created to continue the educational focus of the former Illinois Ethnic Coalition, especially the publication of resources that help the mainstream public understand and respond to diversity and changing demographics.

53% of U.S. Hispanics typically describe themselves by their country of origin. 27% use pan-ethnic terms like Hispanic, Latino, Latinx or Latine, and 18% most often describe themselves as only American.

When describing the population overall, a majority prefer “Hispanic.”

If you’re Hispanic, what terms do you use to describe your identity?

There’s something powerful about being in a room full of people who care — and are ready to act.

You realize you’re not the only one asking questions.

Not the only one who wants to do more.

And you leave with people you can actually stay connected to.

That part matters just as much as the training itself.
