Hope In Motion- HIM Our approach is ministry-based but open to all walks of life. We believe every story matters.

We are a ministry-based, 501c3 non-profit organization who provide transitional services to youth aging out of juvenile corrections through teaching, encouraging, and connecting. We are a volunteer, ministry-based organization who provide life skills training, mentoring, transitional care surrounding community re-entry, assessment and connection to services for youth who age out of juvenile corrections or who have aged out of juvenile corrections in Arizona. The goal of the program is to provide programming while the youth is still incarcerated, resources upon release, and continued support in the community after the youth ages out of the system. Hope In Motion was started after a service gap was identified for youth aging out of juvenile corrections in an effort to reduce the recidivism rate from juvenile to adult prison systems. Not only are we going to walk alongside aged-out youth who are interested in working with our program, but we are going to continue to offer encouragement and support. This also allows us the opportunity to work within the community to provide family support. We fully believe that the aged-out youth we work with can emerge as leaders within their communities. Hope In Motion is an acronym for HIM, because all we do and all we have is done for the glory of God and God's unconditional love for people from all walks of life.

We are here at the NPJS conference in Seattle, putting Hope into Motion, advocating for our youth & families, encouraging the encouragers, and building collaborative partnerships to assist with local juvenile justice reform. Maricopa County Juvenile Probation is also here ✨

Check out the conference’s youth panel, which included Progress Pushers, and art work from the juvenile justice youth artwork contest on “Courage to Change”. Youth’s words for staff in this space: “Remember we are still children. It’s not what you say but how you say it. Be the leader you wish you had. Be aware of your own dysregulation when disciplining from emotion.” Youth also stated: “The community, not the system, came through.”

We also met an incredible Judge from Michigan who’s changing how they approach youth and families, and who discussed the importance of collaboration.

Excited to see what the next two days bring and to continue to encourage the encouragers who are in leadership positions across the nation 🌟

It goes with the life verse tonight: “You are the light of the world, a city on the hill…” Matthew 5:14 🌟

Great night of tough life & faith questions, time with Joe the therapy dog, and ministering. Youth remembered when we taught “Jesus Loves Me” in ASL and are wanting to teach it to their kids during video visits.

Joe! the therapy dog 🐶 continues to leave an impact 🐾 inside local juvenile justice facilities.

Providing a trauma-informed approach and a bridge through his age (14), special needs (deaf & blind), and story, Joe is breaking down barriers and is now the first therapy dog to go into the local juvenile prison, the local juvenile detention facility, and the local adult prison where children are housed.

This is a monthly national working session bringing together leaders, practitioners, credible voices, and Christian hip-hop artists to produce real collaboration and measurable impact for youth inside the system.

Our South Phoenix Healthy Start team is hosting the D.A.D. (Disciplined, Attentive, Diligent Fathers) Baby Shower this Saturday, a free community event celebrating fathers and connecting families with resources, support, and opportunities to build community.
