Driving through a school zone?
Don’t let the new speed limit surprise you.

15 or 20 miles per hour is the new speed limit in private and public school zones. Watch for posted signs as you enter school zones to know whether the 15 or 20 mph limit applies.

What happens if you don’t slow down? Police officers will begin giving warnings to drivers who exceed the new limits. Citations will be issued as enforcement increases over the next few weeks.

Do your part and help keep our students and families safe. It’s a shared responsibility.

El nuevo límite de velocidad en las zonas escolares, tanto públicas como privadas, es de 15 o 20 millas por hora. Al entrar en las zonas escolares, preste atención a las señales para saber si se aplica el límite de 15 o 20 mph.

🎒✂️ Back-to-School Cafecito was a success!✂️🎒

We had a wonderful evening bringing our community together for a special Back-to-School edition of Cafecito! A big thank you to Gilroy Police Department Chief Sanchez and Gilroy Unified School District Superintendent Munshi for joining us, answering questions, sharing important updates, and taking the time to connect directly with families. 💬🤝

Thanks to our partners, we were able to provide school supplies to more than 100 students and free haircuts to over 25 children as they get ready to head back to school! 🎒📚💈 Families were also connected with resources and referrals for housing support, food assistance, and school district services.

Community members were also excited to learn more about the new speed limits around school zones and other important back-to-school safety information. 🚸🏫

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this evening so meaningful. We love creating spaces where families can connect, ask questions, access resources, and build community together! 💙

🎒✂️ ¡Nuestro Cafecito de Regreso a Clases fue todo un éxito!✂️🎒

Tuvimos una excelente tarde reuniendo a nuestra comunidad para una edición especial de Cafecito de Regreso a Clases. Un agradecimiento especial al Jefe de Policía de Gilroy y a la Superintendente Munshi por acompañarnos, responder preguntas, compartir información importante y tomarse el tiempo para convivir directamente con nuestras familias. 💬🤝

Gracias a nuestros colaboradores, pudimos entregar útiles escolares a más de 100 estudiantes y ofrecer cortes de cabello gratuitos a más de 25 niños para ayudarlos a prepararse para el regreso a clases. 🎒📚💈 Las familias también fueron conectadas con recursos y referencias para apoyo de vivienda, asistencia de alimentos y servicios del distrito escolar.

La comunidad también estuvo muy interesada en conocer más sobre los nuevos límites de velocidad alrededor de las escuelas y otra información importante sobre la seguridad durante el regreso a clases. 🚸🏫

¡Gracias a todas las personas que nos acompañaron y ayudaron a hacer de esta tarde algo tan especial! Nos encanta crear espacios donde las familias puedan conectarse, hacer preguntas, acceder a recursos y fortalecer nuestra comunidad. 💙

On Tuesday, August 4, more than 2,500 community members joined us alongside 55+ community resource booths for an evening dedicated to building relationships, celebrating our community, and strengthening the connection between residents and law enforcement.
