First State is here connecting with students, families, and community partners, sharing resources, and making sure families know where to turn when they need support.

🎒 Still need a bookbag for back to school?

We’ve been distributing bookbags at community events throughout the summer, but we know not every family has been able to make it out.

Join us Friday, August 28, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the BME Conference Room, 308 N. Railroad Ave. in Georgetown for our Back-to-School Bookbag Giveaway.

Bookbags will be available for school-age children while supplies last. Families can also stop by to learn more about our afterschool programs opening this fall and the other services and resources available through First State.

If you missed us at one of our earlier events, this is another chance to swing by, grab a bookbag, and connect with us before the school year gets started.

A huge thank you to the Delaware State Police and Senior Corporal Patrick Jackson for stopping by First State with a generous donation of school supplies for local students! 🎒📚✏️

Partnerships like this go beyond backpacks and notebooks. They create opportunities for law enforcement and community organizations to work side by side, strengthen relationships, and show young people that their community is invested in their success.

We’re grateful to DSP and Sr. Cpl. Jackson (pictured here with our Executive Director Bernice Edwards) for showing up for our families and helping students start the school year prepared and ready to learn.

More Than a Back-to-School Event

The Coolspring Community Back to School Bash brings families together with resources, fun, and support. Children can receive free school supplies and backpacks while enjoying games, food, and activities. Beebe Healthcare will also provide free health checkups on-site.

✅ Backpacks and school supplies
✅ Health screenings and chronic disease education
✅ Mental health and substance use awareness
✅ HIV, Hepatitis C and A1C testing

Join the Coolspring Civic Association on Saturday, August 22, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. for the Coolspring Community Back-to-School Bash!

Families can enjoy school supplies and bags for children, food, games, a bounce house, a water slide and more. Beebe Healthcare will also be onsite providing free checkups. Don’t forget to bring a bathing suit! ☀️
