SCOWS MATCH SCHEDULE FOR MAY 2026:

Now that May has arrived, we just wanted to remind everyone of the Match schedule for the coming month.

First, and most importantly, given that the regularly scheduled "2nd Sunday" monthly match falls on Mother's Day, which has presented some scheduling challenges with the members of our posse, SCOWS WILL NOT BE HOLDING THE PLANNED MONTHLY MATCH SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, MAY 10, 2026.

Also, although the calendar for the month of May 2026 has five Saturdays, the Cooper Pistol Bays at MCRC are scheduled to be used for a 2-day Friday-Saturday match on May 29-30, so THERE WILL BE NO "5th SATURDAY" SCOWS MATCH ON MAY 30, 2026.

All that having been said, the calendar for May 2028 also contains an incredibly rare "5th Sunday", and, to make up for not having the "5th Saturday" match this month, our NCOWS posse has requested and received permission from MCRC for access to the Cooper Pistol Bays on Sunday, May 31 to hold a "5th Sunday" match.
ACCORDINGLY, THE NEXT SCOWS MATCH WILL BE ON SUNDAY, MAY 31, 2026, IN THE COOPER PISTOL BAYS AT THE MID CAROLINA RIFLE CLUB.

Our local NCOWS posse, the South Carolina Old West Shootists (SCOWS), recently held its regularly scheduled “2nd Sunday" Monthly Match for March on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in the Cooper Pistol Bays at the Mid-Carolina Rifle Club (MCRC). We had a total of fourteen (14) Shooters, including 4 new shooters (1 Shootists, 1 BP Shootist, 1 Junior and 1 Lady Junior). Weather was lovely and fun was had by all.

Given the larger than usual crowd and the new shooters who needed to be assisted through the stages, we weren't able to complete the match before we needed to break down and call it a day, so there are no complete match scores to report, and, technically, there were no clean shooters for the match, although I can report that SGT. Henry was, after 3 complete stages, on his way to a clean match.

Congratulations to all, welcome to all our new shootists, and thanks to everyone for a great match.

The South Carolina Old West Shootists (SCOWS) recently held its regularly scheduled “2nd Sunday" Monthly Match on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in the Cooper Pistol Bays at the Mid-Carolina Rifle Club (MCRC). We had a total of seven (7) Shooters, including a new Shooter and 1 Lady Shootist. Weather was cold, but it slowly warmed uip, and fun was had by all. There was one clean shooter – congratulations to SGT Rick Henry.

Battle of Aiken
The annual Battle of Aiken historical Civil War-era reenactment will be held the weekend of Friday, Feb. 20 through Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026 -- at the Battle of Aiken Park, 1210 Powell Pond Rd., Aiken, SC 29801. Once again, the South Carolina Old West Shootists have been asked to serve as Provost Marshals for the event. All are encouraged to come out and enjoy a day or two (or even all three) at this premiere event.

ATTENTION:
After much consideration, based on the weather forecast for October 12, SCOWS has decided to postpone the Match scheduled for tomorrow, and reschedule it to Saturday, November 29 (our "5th Saturday" match for November). Given the Tropical Storm pushing in from the coast, which has already caused the Geechee Gunfighters SASS club to cancel today's match in Ridgeville, the forecast for both heavy rain and high winds continuing into tomorrow has led us to follow suit, especially given that some shooters will be driving in from considerable distance, and, safety being paramount, it just doesn't make sense to have our posse family on the road in the potential storm-based mess that's being predicted.
This means that our next match will be the annual "Gunfight in Tombstone That Occurred Near the OK Corral" Match, on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025. (REMINDER: there is no "2nd Sunday" SCOWS Match for November, since that is the weekend that the MCRC USPSA club holds its 2-day "Toys for Tots" match, so they will be using all of the Cooper Bays on both Sat. & Sun. that weekend.)
Also, this means that the next SCOWS event will be the Aiken Wild West Fest at Battle Park in Aiken (1210 Powell Pond Road, Aiken, SC 29801) on Sat-Sun, Nov. 1-2, 2025. Anyone needing any info about this event, please feel free to contact Sgt. Henry, Y Kid, or this page. Hope to see you there.
