🔥 Training Notice for Rockaway Beach Residents 🔥

Rockaway Beach Fire Rescue will be participating with our partners from Garibaldi Fire and Rescue in a “Burn to Learn” training exercise off Shand Avenue near Highway 101 beginning at approximately 9:00 AM.

During this training, firefighters will be practicing critical fire suppression and safety techniques using a controlled burn. Residents and visitors in the area may see smoke throughout the morning, which is expected as part of the training.

🚒 This exercise allows our firefighters to train in realistic conditions so they can better serve and protect our community.

What to expect:
• Visible smoke in the Shand Ave / Hwy 101 area
• Fire apparatus and personnel in the area
• Controlled training activities monitored by firefighters

There is no cause for alarm, and the burn will be carefully supervised to ensure safety.

Last night at drill night, firefighters from Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach Fire trained on Search & Rescue techniques. Search & Rescue is a life saving skill that is performed early in the fire scene operations under extreme stress conditions. Perfecting these skill sets ensures we are able to find and save lives in the event of a fire.

Rockaway Beach is our first response automatic aide partner on all structure fires. To have the opportunity to train for these scenarios is paramount and a top priority.
