At our June 16th meeting, Chance Uhland, Assistant Director of the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women's Shelter, told us about his difficult life experience dealing with drug and alcohol addiction, criminal behavior, and multiple imprisonments eventually leading him to Christ, sobriety, and serving as a role model for those he works with at the Rescue Mission. The Mission is currently near capacity for both men's and women's bed space. A typical duration of residence at the Mission is about six months, but may be as long as 1 1/2 years.

Press Release Immediate:

The Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter sadly announces the
resignation of the Executive Director Reverend Darrell Grimm. The letter of
resignation was submitted at the June board meeting with an ending date of June
30 2026.

Reverend Grimm assumed the Executive Director position in February of 2023.
During Darrell’s tenure the Rescue Mission moved from Third Street to the current
home at 547 North Farnham. Grimm was instrumental in adjusting to the new
location. At the new location, the number of lodgings per night went up, meals
served increased, and food boxes distributed more than double. With the new
location being one level people with mobility issues can now be served. At the
Galesburg Rescue Mision and Women’s Shelter we serve the spiritual and physical
needs of our guests.

We wish Darrell and his wife Sandy well as they continue serving Jesus with the
New Life Baptist Church. Hopefully, they will have more time with their
grandchildren. Thank you good and faithful servant.

The next clothing day scheduled for June 2026, will be on Wednesday, 24TH starting at 1:30 PM in the Chapel / Library. The doors were opened to the Chapel / Library earlier than 1:30 PM so all coming in could have a seat for the Clothing service.

First off, thank you to all of our generous donors for donating over $6,000 towards our water heater repair!

We still need about $1,500 to cover all the cost.

+Food boxes are scheduled to be given out ONLY in the morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM through 11:30 AM.
+During the afternoon of June 10, 2026 we are having the first clothing giveaway of June!
+CLOTHING DAY CHAPEL SERVICE starts at 1:30 PM in the Chapel / Library off the west entrance. Please bring your own tote bag / carry bag / garbage bag to take home your selections.
