The King Center
On behalf of Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King and The King Center, you are invited to join us for a powerful evening at The King Center in Atlanta as we screen Be Still & Know: The Polly Sheppard Story.
On June 17, 2015, evil entered Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Nine people were killed during Bible study in an act of racist violence. Polly Sheppard was one of five survivors.
Be Still & Know shares Ms. Sheppard’s story in her own words, following her experience that night and her journey toward healing and forgiveness. Her testimony reflects extraordinary faith, courage, and grace while confronting the devastating consequences of hatred and racist violence.
The King Center’s Better Together Program invites you to experience this powerful story and reflect on our shared responsibility to oppose hate, affirm human dignity, practice nonviolence, and help create the Beloved Community.
Immediately following the screening, Polly Sheppard will join Dr. Bernice A. King, CEO of The King Center, for a fireside chat exploring the film, faith, survival, forgiveness, healing, and the work required to move communities beyond violence and division.
