The Alabama State Association of Cooperatives (ASAC) is proud to highlight how professional development and hands-on agricultural training continue to impact our staff both on and off the workday.

Saturday at Triple J Farm, ASAC team member Shelia Daniels completed her very first bee colony installation after training in beekeeping since 2024. This milestone reflects the importance of continued education, skill building, and practical application in agriculture.

At ASAC, we believe the knowledge gained through outreach, technical assistance, and agricultural training should extend beyond the office and directly benefit the farms and communities we serve. From pollinator education to sustainable agriculture practices, experiences like these strengthen both our producers and our staff.

We are proud of Shelia for taking this next step in her agricultural journey and grateful for opportunities that allow cooperative education and hands-on learning to work together in real time.

ASAC continues its Earth Day Celebrations with a visit to Sumter Central High School in York, Alabama!!

Our team spent time engaging with students, sharing information about agriculture, sustainability, and the importance of caring for the land. We at ASAC believe learning is best with real world applications, especially when it comes to food systems, farming, and community development.

ASAC is grateful for the opportunity to connect with students and continue supporting agricultural education across our state!

Happy Earth Day from ASAC and Highland Home School in Montgomery Alabama!!

Today we had an amazing time with the students talking about how taking care of the land helps take care of our animals. From clean water to healthy grass, we showed how herd health starts with a healthy environment!

The kids enjoyed hands-on activities, coloring , and fun animal games while learning simple ways they can help protect the Earth every day. 💚

April is National Garden Month, and we celebrated by getting our hands in the soil with a local Head Start class right here in Gainesville—just 10 minutes from our home base.

ASAC, with Tia Parker, Sheila Daniels, and Alicia Jordan, worked with four-year-old students to plant a raised bed garden and learn where their food comes from.

A special thank you to Farm to ECE through the Alabama Partnership for Children for providing swag bags with books, educational materials, and farmers market guide sheets for families.

ASAC in the field with our friends at the NRCS! Our very own Tia Parker was back at it again on a farmer’s land.

This type of collaboration is what real outreach looks like meeting farmers where they are and helping them move forward with conservation practices that strengthen their operations.

This visit focused on measuring field level along the farmers creek to assist with conservation practices on his land.

ASAC want to send a special shoutout to the NRCS for their work and to Ms Tia Parker for her outstanding commitment to assisting our farmers!

This past Friday we held our first event of the grow season with the Wendy Hill Community!

We shared some knowledge, swapped seeds and got our hands in the soil as our Outreach Specialist Tia Parker and Leah Alexander led this workshop.

Large field or small garden it’s important now more than ever to get back in the soil and grow your own!
