We had the pleasure of having the Womelsdorf Mennonite Youth Group and their leaders at the ranch Friday and Saturday of last week. By the time they left, we had made more strides towards being ready to open! They were able to get some more grass seeding done, painted all the walk-in horse sheds in our horse pastures, some cleaning, assembling chairs, moving donated exercise equipment, and moving some furniture. The amount of work that can get done in a day by a group of volunteers is such a blessing to us, and we are so thankful for all the people and groups God is sending us to help with projects around the ranch.

We are blessed to introduce Megan Riegsecker who will be a part of our direct care staff, living with and discipling the girls. Megan moved here with her husband Joel who is managing the thrift store.
From Megan: "I was once a broken child and teen who faced many trials in a broken home until I began my walk with the Lord and He delivered, healed and set me free. I can't wait to help the teens who are coming to the ranch come to know Jesus and receive the healing, deliverance, and saving that he's so graciously given to me."
Being a wife and momma, raising children to know, love, and serve the Lord are two of her greatest desires. God so graciously fulfilled one of those desires on April 25th, 2026 when she got to marry the love of her life.
Megan has a heart for missionary work and most recently traveled to Honduras for a mission trip.
She loves all things outdoors, from hiking, fishing, all things animals and critters, enjoying God's beautiful creation, and documenting landscape and nature through photography.
Megan is known for her laughter and sense of humor and is a joy to be around. A cheerful heart is good medicine! Proverbs 17:22

Thank you so much to this amazing group of young people and their leaders that spent the week here from Calvary Chapel in Sturgis, Michigan! They went above and beyond to do the work we had planned for them and worked together so incredibly well as a team. They raked and seeded both sides of the driveway going down the hill through the wooded area, finished installing the flooring and baseboard in the school, redid and painted fencing and more.

We are so blessed to get to partner with people we would never meet otherwise and our prayer at Refuge Mountain Ranch is that we leave a lasting impression on these work groups that will influence the rest of their lives. When we link arms with other people that love Jesus it is amazing what we can accomplish. God has been so faithful in sending us the right people at the right time to finish the work projects that need to be done as we get closer to our open house and opening.

As things are coming together here at the ranch, we have more staff to introduce!
Next is Miriam Halteman from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Miriam grew up on a dairy farm in Michigan, then moved to the beautiful mountains of Colorado before ending up in PA.
Miriam is one of our direct care staff who will live with and disciple the teen girls. She made the decision to come to the ranch because she loved the vision of walking alongside hurting girls and living out the steady, unconditional love of Jesus. Miriam values deep relationships, and she has a huge heart for sharing the gifts of presence and love, even in the face of messy emotions. She also enjoys peaceful time outdoors and loves animals, especially cuddly ones!

A huge thank you to Sunnyside Mennonite Church for serving at the ranch and blessing us so much with your time and energy! They traveled all the way from Sarasota, Florida to help us complete projects here at the ranch, including cleaning the kitchen and the new girls house, clearing out the barn, and finishing the horse shelters.

We continue to be amazed at what God is doing through His people here at the ranch. We cannot do it all by ourselves and the Lord continues to be faithful in providing people and resources just when we need them.

Psalm 116:7-9 Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

A huge thank you to Chestnut Mountain Ranch in Morgantown WV! When a donor blessed them with a new dump truck, they turned around and donated their old one to Refuge Mountain Ranch. This truck has been a tremendous blessing. Michael, one of our maintenance guys, uses it almost every day as we continue building and improving the ranch.
We are so grateful for the generosity and partnership of Chestnut Mountain Ranch and everyone who is helping make this mission possible.

The next person we would like to introduce is arguably the most important staff role on the ranch - our cook!
Mim Weaver comes to us from Mercersburg PA where her parents and 6 siblings live on a 22,000 bird turkey farm. In 2024 - 2025, Mim served in the kitchen at Faith Builders. She was introduced to the ranch by a friend and felt the Lord's calling to serve at the ranch. She says the kitchen is her happy place and she loves creating dishes for friends to enjoy.

Mim shares that a life verse for her is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Please join us in thanking the Lord for bringing her to the ranch!
