🎓 Kitten School: When to Step In 🎓

You find kittens outside. What do you do?
📍 Step 1: DON’T grab them immediately.
📍 Step 2: Check if they’re:
Warm? ✅
Clean? ✅
Plump and sleeping soundly? ✅

Then guess what? Mom is doing her job! She might be hiding, or out getting food.

Why it matters:
🚫 Early removal can hurt their development
🚫 Shelters can’t care for every healthy, non-orphaned kitten
🚫 It could separate babies from a loving mama
⏰ Wait until they’re 6-8 weeks old. Then it’s TNR time!

Be smart, be kind—don’t kitnap the kittens! 🐾

✨ Meet Luna ✨

Some cats just have a quiet kind of magic about them… and Luna is absolutely one of them.

This petite little lady came to us from the Mineral County Pound after dealing with painful rodent ulcers. Thanks to treatment and lots of care, she’s feeling so much better and ready to leave that chapter behind for good.
At around 3 years old, Luna is the definition of a gentle, loving companion. She’s the kind of cat who doesn’t just exist in your home… she becomes part of your every moment. Wherever you go, she’s right behind you, happily “supervising” and then settling down nearby to keep you company.

Speaking of supervising… Luna takes her job very seriously. Anytime the handymen are working, she’s right there making sure everything is up to her standards. Quality control is important, after all.
And if you stop by in the morning? You’ll likely find Luna perched in the window, watching the world go by like it’s her favorite TV show, just waiting for her people to arrive.

Don’t let her calm personality fool you… Luna still has a playful side! She enjoys batting around toys and really comes to life when the catnip comes out. Give her a little sprinkle and you’ll see a whole new level of happiness.
She’s calm, sweet, affectionate, playful, and full of quiet love. The kind of cat who makes a house feel peaceful and warm just by being in it.

Now all Luna needs is a forever home where she can follow her person from room to room, nap in sunny windows, enjoy her toys, and continue her very important supervisory duties.

If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow with a soft heart, Luna might just be your perfect match 💛

Are you feeding and caring for feral cats in Allegany County? We need your help!

Please take a moment to fill out this Google Form. It’s helping us identify the areas in the county with the greatest need. While we know feral cats are everywhere, some locations are far worse than others. By gathering this information, we can prioritize the areas that need our help the most first.

Important Notes:
-Only fill out the form once per address. Duplicate entries affect our data.
-Allegany County residents only.
-If you know someone feeding feral cats who can’t access the form, you may fill it out on their behalf (with their permission).
-This is not a waitlist. However, we may reach out by email if your area shows a high population of feral cats and multiple feeders in the same are.

Leo is a stunning orange and white medium-haired boy with the fluffiest coat and the sweetest little face. At just 6 months old, he is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place.

Leo can be timid at first and needs a little patience while he settles in. New people and environments can make him nervous, but once he starts to feel comfortable, his true personality begins to shine. Beneath that shy exterior is a happy, loving kitten who will turn into an absolute bundle of joy for the person willing to give him a chance.

Watching Leo come out of his shell is incredibly rewarding. He just needs a calm home, kindness, and someone who understands that the best relationships sometimes take a little time to grow.

We are growing and could really use some extra helping hands!

There are so many ways to volunteer with Meow Mission Coalition, but one of our biggest current needs is help in our free roaming cat space. Volunteers help with cleaning, feeding, daily care, and spending quality time socializing with the cats. Sometimes the smallest things, like sitting and giving a shy cat attention, can make the biggest difference.
Whether you have a few hours a week or just want to help when you can, we would love to have you on our team. Every volunteer helps us save more cats and continue the work we do in the community.
