Sweet Rayne 🌸

We took this tiny girl a couple weeks ago as an emergency intake. She is kitten from a feral colony, the sad reality of cats that are not fixed 💔 Rayne was in such poor condition we didn’t post her story because honestly we weren’t sure she would make it. 😞 At just a pound or so, Rayne was infested with fleas, extremely congested and had very inflamed eyes.

We are happy to say that she is thriving now and her eyes continue to improve each and every day! Kittens like Rayne are a big commitment, daily eye meds need done 4-6x a day. Please take action immediately when you see kittens like this!

She’s a true fighter and full of s***k this girl!!!!! 🥳

This sweet girl came to us yesterday as an emergency intake! A very kind human brought her in after she suddenly showed up in need of help!

At just about a pound and a half she is rather thin, completely infested with fleas and ear mites. ☹️💔 Kittens can die from anemia quick, so it’s always important to take fleas very seriously.

Here’s to a brighter future little one! 💞🌈✨💫

📣 Flame and Cayenne are officially looking for a furever home together! These girls have become besties since they have been with us! Cayenne is a bit shy and she really leans on Flame for confidence.🩷
These girls would do good in a quieter home. Small children who would chase after them would NOT be a good setting. They need a patient family willing to let them bloom at their own pace. 🙏🏻💕🌼

We have over 15 BLACK kittens available for adoption!

Adopting black cats last must stop! They are just as awesome (we think way more awesome🤘🏼💀🔥) than every other cat!

•Why should they have to wait the longest?? 🤨

• Our rescue absolutely DOES NOT believe in FREE or reduced adoption fees for black cats!! It’s absurd‼️ All that does is reinforce that “black cats aren’t as worthy” it does nothing to squash the stigma or whatever it is that people don’t like about black cats!

•Would you ever see a shelter or rescue have free adoption fees for Siamese cats⁉️I think not. 😑

•Let’s stop making black cats less adoptable. If you truly want to be a hero and rescue a life, we suggest you adopt a black cat the next time you adopt!

Which means it’s officially that time of year again when we start seeing posts warning everyone that black cats shouldn’t be adopted during October because someone might use them for a satanic ritual, sacrifice them, torture them, or whatever version of the story is circulating this year. 🙄

Can we please stop doing this?

🐈‍⬛ Black cats do not need to spend October sitting in shelters and rescues because of an urban legend.

There is not some seasonal army of witches waiting for October so they can fill out adoption applications, provide references, pay an adoption fee, and take home a black cat to sacrifice under the full moon.

The time of year is not a reason to deny an otherwise qualified adopter a cat.

And while we’re clearing things up: modern witches, pagans, and people practicing earth based religions are not synonymous with animal sacrifice. In fact, plenty of people in those communities absolutely adore and highly value cats, black ones included.

Are there bad people in the world who hurt animals?

Of course.

They exist in January, April, July, and October. They hurt orange cats, tabbies, dogs, rabbits, wildlife and unfortunately just about anything else.

That is why responsible adoption screening exists.

✅𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗲.
✅𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁.
✅𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀.

But if someone is a perfectly good home on October 15, they don’t suddenly become a dangerous psychopath because the cat they fell in love with happens to be black.

And black cats already have enough working against them. They don’t need us making them less adoptable for an entire month because of a Halloween myth.

So this spooky season, instead of hiding the black cats…

Post the voids.
Post the tiny house panthers.
Post the ridiculous yellow eyes.
Post the black kittens who disappear into dark blankets.
Post them next to pumpkins if you want. 🎃🐈‍⬛

Let them be spooky. Let them be cute. And let them get adopted. 🎉

Halloween isn’t the danger.
