There was big news for housing this month. New federal legislation recognizes something our community has known all along, which is that safe, affordable homes are the foundation of strong neighborhoods.

At Rebuilding Together Stephenson County, we see everyday how small repairs can help someone remain safely in the home they love

While national policies continue to evolve our mission stays the same; helping neighbors live in safe and healthy homes. Because everyone deserves a safe, healthy home.

Today is a big win for housing in America.

We're celebrating the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act becoming law—a bipartisan achievement that recognizes safe, stable, and affordable housing as the foundation for stronger families and communities.

This legislation will help safeguard existing homes and support older adults, veterans, families, and people with disabilities who want to remain safely in the homes they love.

Thank you to the bipartisan leaders who came together to make this possible. We look forward to working with our affiliates, partners, and policymakers to help turn this important legislation into lasting impact for communities across the country.

Together, we're building a future where everyone can live in a safe home and a thriving community.

Being prepared for severe weather starts at home. From having a safety plan, to making sure your home is secure, preparation is the most important step in saving lives during severe weather.
Everyone should have:

A Meeting place outside of the home should you need to evacuate

A flashlight

A radio or a plan to get news and weather updates even when power is out

💚Bonus: Healthy homes are a part of healthy communities. Connecting with neighbors and checking in on each other during severe weather helps everyone stay safe and more prepared.🏡
