Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation BCHR&LF was incorporated as a nonprofit organization on December 14, 1971. It was later named the official Historical Society of Beaver County.

It was later named the official Historical Society of Beaver County, Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation, located in the Vicary Mansion at Freedom, PA. The Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation was incorporated as a nonprofit organization on December 14, 1971. The purpose of the Foundation is the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Beaver County's historical sites, records and artifacts for the educational benefit of the public. The Foundation, which is supervised by a board of trustees is involved in a number of ongoing activities:

Operation of the Beaver County History Center at the Vicary Mansion
Publication of Milestones - a quarterly magazine about Beaver County history
Publication and reprinting of historical literature including: The 1976 Bicentennial Atlas, The 20th Century History of Beaver County, Rivers of Destiny - The Beaver County Bicentennial Book and A Guide to Historical Landmarks in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Selection of up to four historic sites each year and dedication of these locations with historical markers. Distribution of Heritage markers for residences which meet historic criteria

Recently, I visited this presentation at the Carnegie Library of Midland... I was only there a short time but these photos give you a better understanding of the greatness of Beaver County, it's history, it's people, it's infrastructure, and to me, it's people helping each other learn...

So, this coming Saturday, November 7, from 1 until 3 pm there will be a book signing event for the new "Before Beaver County: The Forgotten Tales and Early Trails from Pre-History to 1803" history book... The event will be held at The Vicary Mansion, 1235 Third Avenue, Freedom, PA...
This book was proposed by one of Beaver County's foremost historians, Charles Townsend of South Beaver Township... He wanted to fill a critical missing chapter of the earliest documented history of Beaver County...
Brenda and Roger Applegate of Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation, the oldest historical society in Beaver County, saw a need for this early history of our county...
A team of writers was brought together plus illustrators and map-makers... What a blessing!

Save the date for the most beautiful and elegant time of the year at the Vicary Mansion. Join us for Christmas at the Vicary Mansion, 1235 3rd Ave., Freedom, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2026. During the open house, there will be candlelight tours, plus a train display by Cub Scout Pack 406-Den 1. Our historic artisans, dressed in clothing of the 1820’s, will be demonstrating bobbin lace, tatted lace, Scherenschnitte (paper cutting) and wood carving. The Freedom Drama Club will perform at 2:30 p.m., and the Freedom Choir sings at 3 p.m. There will be lighting of the Civil War Tree at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Guess who arrives at 5 p.m.? It’s Santa, and you can tell him your wishes for Christmas. Our Vicary Mansion Gift Shop will be open to purchase a wide variety of history books, children’s books and gifts, textiles made by our Vicary loom makers, plus many other fabulously priced items. You can buy tickets for a chance to win our Christmas baskets, and the winners will be drawn the evening of this event.

There is no admission charge, but we humbly accept your free will donations so the Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation, headquartered at the Vicary Mansion, can continue offering quality historical programs throughout the year.

So, Beaver Valley's Rochester Dunkin Donuts' opening was yesterday morning... I bought a box of assorted donuts along with a cup of coffee... the parking lot was full so I chose the drive-thru... only took about 20 minutes... The workers were so nice and no errors... As I was leaving people were parking their cars on the through street to go inside... Really busy place! Congratulations to them...

So, Beaver Valley's Long John Silvers in East Rochester's opening was yesterday! I bought my supper there... Took one hour going through the drive-thru... I chatted with a couple workers, said they had plenty of products, 50 people working there in shifts, they came around to your vehicle and placed my order, no errors, everything was great in my opinion... worth the wait... but then I'm a positive person... Congratulations to them... 💕

The Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation had a full meeting room of guests to enjoy our annual Beaver County Ghost Stories-An Evening of Tales and Hauntings Saturday evening at the Vicary Mansion. Aurora Swanhilde spoke about The Dark Side of the Fairy Realm. Brian and Terrie Seech talked about Forty Years of High Strangeness.
