Update 10/16 11:00 - Boil Water Advisory is lifted.

Update 10/15 - Per the Boil Water Advisory, the Borough has to have two consecutive days where testing is completed to be sure the advisory can be lifted. Round One has been completed. The Borough will find out results tomorrow on second round and will update accordingly as we know more. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience as we resolve the problem

Original Post:

Today the borough experienced a failure in its water disinfection process which requires ALL borough consumers to take the following action: DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING FIRST.

For more information about this public notice, visit our website at
www.monacapa.net which contains CDC guidelines and instructions for water safety.

We will provide borough water consumers with another message and updates when the problem is corrected and the water is ok to drink.

Looking for something for you and the family to do today? Drive on by Monaca Recreation's Easter Egg hunt today from 1:00 - 2:00.

8:00 PM - Water pressure should begin to return to normal pressures. If you experience a high amount of air coming from your pipes after a minute or two of opening your valves please call 724-480-7122 and let our operators know. At this point a boil water advisory is now in effect until 9 PM on 3/11/2021.

If you receive a notice regarding a water break in preparation for this replacement on the Monaca Now app, please disregard. Our app provider is undergoing an upgrade and that message was resent in error during that upgrade.

7:30 PM - Water valves are beginning to be exercised to test their integrity. You may notice water pressure beginning to return to normal, but may be interrupted again as these tests proceed. As a reminder, please follow the CDC guidelines found in the 2 PM update.

6:30 PM - Our crews are still hard at work. The new valves have been placed into the system and they are working to testing them. Photos of the old valves and our department installing the new ones in the comments.

4:30 PM - Work continues on replacing the valves and is trending positively for water to be restored earlier than the midnight timeline residents were asked to prepare for.

2:00 PM - Water department continues to work on the lines and valves. We did want to start reminding downtown residents that a boil water advisory will be in effect once the lines are reactivated. Information for what to do during a boil advisory can be found from the CDC here - https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/emergency/drinking/drinking-water-advisories/boil-water-advisory.html

12:00 PM - Set of old valves removed, constructed set of new valves, digging continues to be able to install valves. Photo below for those interested.

8:00 am - Valves are beginning to be shutdown. Water disruption for the downtown will begin to be observed.

Water Valves Replacement Updates - Throughout the day, approximately every 4 hours, we will be providing updates on the progress of this project here.

03/09/2021

Reminder: Water service for downtown residents will be disrupted tomorrow, Wednesday, March 10th, beginning at 8 am. Please make preparations such as filling water bottles and containers ahead of this.

If you, or anyone you know, need additional water during this time a water source will be available inside Monaca #4 Fire Department at 913 Taylor Ave. Please follow COVID-19 safety procedures when utilizing this supply.

Also, once completed, a boil advisory will be in effect for 24 hours.

Thank you for your understanding during this water system

There is a new manager in town! Congratulations to David Kramer on being promoted to Borough Manager.

With the end of 2020 nearing, Borough Council wanted to start 2021 off with the best foot forward. As a result of a recent vacancy in the position of Borough Manager, David Kramer has been serving as the interim Borough Manager for the past four months. This evening, Council voted to promote David to the position of Borough Manager.

David has served as Treasurer for the borough for the last four years, and prior to that served in increasing levels of responsibility within the banking industry for nearly two decades. Dave brings a wide-ranging level of ideas and management skills that are well suited for his new position. Further, being a lifelong resident of Monaca, he has the passion and drive to continue moving our town forward.

Outside of his professional experience, David has been an active member of various organizations within the Monaca community such as a coach for the Monaca & Central Valley football teams and President of the Central Valley Education Foundation. Dave has illustrated that he has always and will always have Monaca's and its residents' best interests in mind.

Please join us in congratulating our newest borough manager, David Kramer.

Santa is coming to town tonight!

It is almost time for SANTAAA!!! As a reminder, we will be es**rting Santa through Monaca this evening from 6:00 - 8:00. You can keep an eye on his progress at http://www.greenalp.com/RealTimeTracker/index.php?viewuser=monacafire

Due to COVID, we will not be stopping at our Santa Stop Spots as we have in years past, but rather waving to everyone through town. We will be following the same route though that you can view at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1C4Ra3J31EJv6fTKQM3k795Ei9IM&ll=40.68383577972411%2C-80.27443500000001&z=15

We can't wait to see all of the boys and girls of Monaca tonight!

12/08/2020

Do you hear what I hear? Those sleigh bells will be jingling soon with Santa arriving in Monaca on December 19th from 6:00 - 8:00. We will be following our routes from previous years, but due to not wanting to risk Santa getting COVID-19 so close to Christmas Eve his elves have asked us to have him just wave to the little boys and girls of Monaca this year.

You can still track his progress towards your family at www.monacafire.com/santa , or you can listen for our fire trucks as well get close as well.

We hope to see everyone out and greeting Santa as we es**rt him through town this year!

12/08/2020
