Over the weekend, members of the Truck Committee, overseeing the building of a new ladder truck, were invited to East Brunswick Independent Fire Company (East Brunswick Independent) to take a look at their brand new Truck 809. Truck 809 shares many similarities with the future Truck 31, which is expected to begin construction soon. Members were able to put their hands on this ladder and ask the East Brunswick members about their build, so we could build a Truck best suited to serve Franklin Park and nearby communities. A huge thank you goes out to East Brunswick Independent Fire Company for the invitation and their hospitality.

On this 25th remembrance of the 9/11 terror attacks, we remember the 343 FDNY firefighters, 71 NYPD officers, and 8 EMTs that lost their lives. We will never know exactly how many lives were saved that day by their heroic acts, but we do know that they were all working towards one common goal: save as many lives as possible. As we continue to mourn, we do so in their honor. 2,977 civilians also lost their lives, bringing the total American deaths to almost 3,400. It is our duty as fellow Americans to continue to say their names and to never forget the acts committed upon us. Lest we forget.

Congratulations to our newly graduated Firefighter 1 and the four Firefighter 2 graduates who were unable to attend!

Completing 260+ hours of training is no easy task. It takes dedication, commitment, sacrifice, and a willingness to continue learning and improving.

I wish each and every one of you continued success as you move forward in your careers. Remember, graduation is not the end—it’s only the beginning. There is a whole lot more to learn, process, and experience as you continue to develop your skills and grow not only as firefighters, but as individuals.

Be proud of what you have accomplished, stay humble, keep learning, and always strive to be better than you were yesterday.

Congratulations, and stay safe! 🚒🔥

This past weekend, the FPFD responded to 5 calls for service. Most notably, yesterday morning just after 02:00 hours (2:00am), we were requested to respond with Truck 31 into the Monmouth Junction (MJVFD) section of South Brunswick to assist with aerial operations while they fought a large pile of mulch that had been burning since the early morning hours of the 30th at a business on Broadway Road. Truck 31 operated for an approximate 6-hour period before being released. The Truck was back in quarters by 08:00 (8:00am). Other incidents we responded to ranged from CO alarms and CO incidents to smoke investigations and fire alarms.

20 years ago today on April 11th, 2006, the East Franklin Fire Department, Franklin Township Emergency Services, and the friends and family of Foreman Kevin Apuzzio lost an enormous light that would brighten up any room that he walked into. Kevin had a passion for service, serving as an EMT in his hometown of Union, a member of the Rutgers Emergency Services, and a volunteer firefighter with East Franklin. In the early morning hours of this day 20 years ago, Franklin District 3 responded to reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, Kevin and his crew were tasked with rescuing a victim who was still inside the burning home. Kevin and his crew responded as any of us would, and entered the house putting others lives before their own. Kevin made the supreme sacrifice that day, at just 21 years old. The somber remembrance of Kevin and his inspiration to others will live in infamy. Continue to rest easy brother, we got it from here.
