We had an amazing day at Cherry Place Farm this month! Almost 100 members of our Defend community came out to enjoy the fall festivities including hayrides, petting and feeding the animals, corn mazes, and barnyard games. Beautiful and simple moments of connection for our families and lots of sweet new faces!

Thank you, Shutterfly and Junior Welfare League for sending out volunteers. Grateful for your partnerships!

✨Sip & Stroll 2026: Champions for a Cause 🏈

Join us for the Second Annual Sip & Stroll on October 17, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This year’s theme is “Support Your Favorite Sports Team,” so break out your jerseys, team colors, and game-day spirit as we come together to support an incredible cause. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Defend the Fatherless, a York County, South Carolina nonprofit dedicated to supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families. Through a variety of programs and resources, Defend the Fatherless walks alongside families throughout their journey of caring for children in crisis, helping create stable, loving environments where children can thrive. Participating restaurants throughout Old Town Rock Hill will serve specialty cocktails, mocktails, and curated food pairings created exclusively for the event, providing attendees with a fun and unique experience while giving back to the community!

Sometimes you don’t realize just how far the support you offer has reached until a family comes back and tells you. ❤️

A mama came into the Foster Closet who has been connected with Defend since her son entered foster care at just 6 months old. Today, he’s 7 years old and adopted.

Along the way, their family walked through some really hard seasons—including a massive heart surgery when he was 4. She shared with us how meaningful it was to have Defend show up during that time with frozen meals, practical support, prayer, and encouragement. She told us it meant the world to her.

She hadn’t been to the Closet in quite a while, so some of our staff was meeting her for the first time . As she was shopping, she happened to notice something hanging on the wall that she had never seen before: her son's adoption picture.

Her family has changed. Her son has grown. Their story has moved into a beautiful new chapter. But we're grateful that Defend got to be a small part of their journey—and that years later, she still knows she has a place here.

This is why we do what we do. To lighten the load, show up in the hard seasons, and remind families that they don't have to walk through them alone. ❤️

On our way to the Christian Alliance for Orphans conference, our team got to stop in to visit with Colleen, one of the O.G. Defend team members. While Colleen and her family relocated out of state about four years ago, she remains invested in the work of Defend. Thank you Colleen for being such a strong advocate for vulnerable children and the mission of Defend. We loved our time together! 🫶
