Please join the Milo Baker Chapter of California Native Plant Society for our 55th Annual Native Plant Sale [October 10, 2026 (10 am - 1 pm); 900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa, CA 95401].

Fall is the very best time of year to add habitat-friendly plants to your garden! We invite members of the public to visit our propagation nursery and shop from a wide selection of trees, shrubs, ground covers, grasses, ferns, and succulents. All plants are locally-grown and have been tended for months by dedicated nursery volunteers. Attendees can preview our extensive plant list in advance (https://chapters.cnps.org/milobaker/2026/08/26/fall-fall-plant-sale-october-10/), which includes several selections of manzanita, ceanothus, coffeeberry, penstemon, monkeyflower, fuchsia, sage, daisy, buckwheat, yarrow, and so much more! Alternatively, simply show up and ask one of our knowledgeable horticultural volunteers which plants would do best in your garden.

Our shared nursery partner, the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, will lead guided garden walks at 11 am and 12 pm, as well as showcase their newest exhibit, “Spirit of My Homeland”, which features the artistic works of Gloria Armstrong (inside Heron Hall).

This one-day only event is an important fundraiser for the Milo Baker Chapter, as well as a fun and festive celebration of community, art, nature, and the start of autumnal planting. 4-inch plants are priced at $6.50; gallons are $13.00 (plus sales tax). Seed packets, bulbs, books, posters, yard signs, t-shirts, and hats will be priced individually.

California lost an outstanding botanist this month, Sherry Adams, to cancer. A loyal Milo Baker plant walk leader for many years, she was especially knowledgeable of serpentine flora as she used to manage a large preserve in the Mayacamas Mountains. This photo epitomizes her curiosity, intellect and energy. So quick to investigate and share with a smile. She left us too soon.
