The Forest Park Advocate Community is a place for community advocates to share about the local events happening in the community, report on developing affairs, provide insightful commentary, and to promote the Village of Forest Park in general. This online presence seeks to provide openness and transparency to the community from the viewpoints of its residents and stakeholders. From village affairs, to the school districts, park districts, community events, and more we seek to provide a grassroots perspective to complement the other information avenues available.

A new initiative has been created by some parents in District 91. "Schools Beyond Screens" is encouraging all people in Forest Park to educate themselves on the technology policy of our public schools and take action.

We are a coalition of parents and educators advocating for evidence-based guidelines around technology in Forest Park schools.

Last night the Forest Park School District 91 board met and presented the findings of their search process for the new Superintendent, which is being facilitated by the ISBE.

A surprising discussion regarding the Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) comes up at the 58 minute mark. There appears to be a suggestion that the parental involvement on CAC be diluted in exchange for it being a place for elected bodies in town to collaborate. Traditionally the CAC has been populated by parent representatives from each school, citizens at large, and also community representatives.

Should parents still have a place on the CAC, even if their mandate is expanded to include strategic topics also pertinent to other governing bodies? Do you think D91 is the appropriate entity to bring these stakeholders together?

Forest Park School District 91 (pre-k through 9th grade) is conducting the search for a new Superintendent. There was a survey distributed to caregivers as well as focus groups run by IASB. There will be a presentation of the profile of the desired leader from this feedback presented at the upcoming D91 School board meeting, taking place Thursday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grant-White Library.

Public meeting to discuss the O'Hare Flyer next week. 🚆

Forest Park residents are invited to attend a community meeting about the proposed O’Hare Flyer fast train.

There has been a lot of conversation about the proposal, and this meeting will give residents an opportunity to hear directly from the O’Hare Flyer team and learn more about the proposed plans. The meeting will take place on Thursday, October 1, from 7 to 9 PM at the PMSA Auditorium.

“This is not a political thing,” she told the Review, adding that first responders “may not agree with some of the politics, but I think they would appreciate procedure because that is what they have sworn to do, to uphold the constitution, to follow the municipal code.”
