Does Forest Park have Flock cameras?

This was prepared for Oak Park, but the concern about widespread, warrantless surveillance of citizens going about our business via Flock is national. There are "deflock" movements in towns across Illinois now.

This concerns all of us, especially in light of the news coming out about how Flock is being used to hunt down women seeking reproductive care as well as by rogue law enforcement.

Don't be intimidated by running for public office! When voters have a variety of smart, curious, ethical people to choose from on election day our neighborhood wins.

Recently the League of Women Voters of Oak Park Roger Forest shared resources on how to do just that.

Municipal elections are coming up in the Spring of 2027.

On August 1, 2026, LWV OPRF sponsored a presentation that shared information on what is needed to run for a local board and then how to stay on the ballot, no matter what village you live in.

Speakers were Retired Appellate Judge Matias Delort and Sheilah O'Grady from the Citizen Advocacy Center. The presentation was followed by a panel discussion by three former local board members; Elizabeth Lippitt, Colette Lueck, and Thomas Gary. You can watch the video of this event here:

Tonight, Monday August 24 at 7PM, there is another Village Council meeting in the basement of Village Hall (517 Des Plaines Avenue, Forest Park, Illinois 60130).

There are many things going on in the Village. You as a resident have a right, perhaps even an obligation, to stay informed and share your thoughts with our town leadership who were elected by the community to work for us all.

If you want to make a public comment, you can sign in at the beginning of the meeting. If you can't attend but want to have a comment read at the meeting, these can be sent to the Village Clerk, Carla Taylor at [email protected] prior to 6:30 PM on Monday

The mission of SeeGov is "to expand thoughtful and consistent participation in democracy, starting with local government. Their method is to, upon request by zip code, scrape and compile recordings from local government meetings. You'll then get push notifications to your inbox with information in and around your zip code.

Watch highlights of your city, county, and school board meetings. Know your local leaders and issues. Be prepared to vote and participate.

As a follow up from the last village meeting where public comment was made about ICE's presence in Forest Park, there is now a petition circulating that asks Village Council to take 2 actions: designate our municipal buildings "ICE Free Zones" and update the Welcoming Act passed in 2017 to reflect the realities we are living with today.

It is more convenient than ever to stay up to date on official meetings of our local political bodies. Village of Forest Park, Forest Park School District 91 and Proviso Township District 209 High School all upload their public meetings to YouTube. Inform yourself!

At this recent Village Council meeting, posted just days ago, there was a public hearing on the creation of a new TIF district, discussion about Altenheim RFP/RFQ process, as well as robust public comments on the presence of ICE in our village and the potential strengthening of our own Welcoming Ordinance.

In April 2027 there are chances to throw your hat in the ring and run for public office. Here is some basic information on what roles are coming up for election, deadlines and links to guidance for getting your name on the ballot.

Forest Village has all 5 seats (1 mayor and 4 commissioners) up for election.

Forest Park School District 91 has 3 seats out of 7 total up for election.

Forest Park Park District has 1 seat out of 5 total up for election.

Petition circulation opens on August 25, 2026
Candidate filing period - November 12–18, 2026

Budget meeting July 22nd! Open to the public!

The Village of Forest Park will hold its final Budget Meeting on Wednesday, July 22, at 4 PM at Village Hall.

Residents are encouraged to attend and stay informed as the Village continues its budget process.
