Congratulations to Kayla Oteyza from Harford Technical High School as a winner of the 2026 William J. Sacco Foundation Mathematic Student Award. Kayla serves as President of Mu Alpha Theta. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is actively involved in organizations including Students Against Destructive Decisions, Educators Rising, Women’s Club, and Chorus. Through her participation in the Technology Asset Management program at Harford Tech and her internship at a middle school this semester, she is already gaining hands-on experience working with students and technology. Kayla’s top-choice college is Towson University, where she plans to major in Mathematics.

Congratulations to Eleanor Starbuck from Edgewood High School for receiving the Sacco Foundation Math Student Award. Eleanor serves as Secretary of the National Honor Society and is a member of several other honor societies. She supports her peers as a tutor in both math and French and is actively involved in her community through her church youth group. She also plays a key role in the Edgewood Theatre Troupe as head of sound design, while balancing her commitment as a varsity swimmer at Edgewood High School and a member of the Rock Spring Racers.
Eleanor will be going to the University of Maryland, majoring in Microbiology in the Gemstone Honors Program

Today we highlight Alyssa Stover from C. Milton Wright High School as the winner of the Sacco Foundation Math Student award. Alyssa has earned recognition for her achievements in STEM, including the Judith Resnik Award for Excellence in STEM, AP Scholar with Distinction, and the National Recognition Program for Outstanding Academic Achievement. She is actively involved in FIRST Robotics, is a leader in the National Honor Society and captain of the Academic Team. She has also expanded her STEM experience through the Army Educational Outreach Summer Program.
Alyssa’s top-choice college is the University of Maryland, College Park, where she plans to major in Chemistry or Biochemistry.

Ronald serves as President of multiple student organizations, including Coding Club, the Green Team, and Student Government, while also leading groups such as the Asian Culture Association, Dungeons & Dragons Club, and Key Club. His academic achievements include membership in several honor societies. He is also an accomplished musician, playing multiple instruments and earning recognition as a member of the All-County Orchestra.

Next up in our highlight of student winners is Seth Blood from Havre De Grace High School. Seth is the winner of the prestigious Mike Franklin Computer Science Award given on behalf of the Sacco Foundation to recognize the top student in Harford County in the area of computer science.

Seth has been exploring computer programming since a young age—even teaching himself new languages to bring his own ideas to life. He has built complex systems completely from the ground up. He is currently participating in an internship with Defense Interns, is a Carson Scholar, and is active in cross country, indoor and outdoor track, and the academic team. Seth also volunteers with the Welcome One Homeless Shelter and works with the International Rescue Committee.

Seth’s top-choice college is Brigham Young University, where he plans to major in Computer Engineering.

Our next student in our spotlight series of 2026 Sacco Math Student Winners is Liam Delaney from Fallston High School. Liam serves as President of Future Business Leaders of America and Captain of the Academic Team. He is a member of multiple honor societies, including National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Math National Honor Society. A dedicated student-athlete, he competes in varsity cross country, winter track, and tennis. In addition, he has achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.
Liam’s top-choice college is Lehigh University, where he plans to major in Computer Engineering.
