American Legion Auxiliary Forest Grove Unit 2

We are a patriotic service organization who advocate for, help, and honor United States military, veterans, their families, youth, and the community.

We also support The American Legion and their mission. We meet the first Saturday of each month at the Legion Hall in Forest Grove at 10 a.m.

We handed out painted rocks for Halloween at the downtown Forest Grove merchant trick or treat. Our Legion members handed out apples. We went through over 250 rocks in the 1st hour when we ran out. Beautiful day and so many great costumes.

Some of our juniors got together on Friday to work on a project for Veterans Day. The girls did a great job as well as Sheila, Lois and Margaret! We had pizza and cookies.

$3,323.21 is how much we raised doing the poppies this year! Thank you Sheila for taking over the poppy program and to all of our legion members, Auxiliary members and our juniors who showed up to help. Our little town of Forest Grove is so incredibly supportive.

Please come see us at Safeway in Forest Grove. We are handing out poppies, coloring books and colors for kids, painted rocks and bookmarks with the poppy poem. We are there until 4 pm today and 10-4 tomorrow! We have several people who were happy to get a flag and some rocks!

Another successful breakfast for our vets yesterday. We had about 25 people there along with some really good food!

Today I got to meet 2 new friends. Irene brought several of her friends to come paint rocks at my house and Lois also stopped by. We talked, we laughed, we ate and we painted rocks. Thanks you ladies for helping our cause!

We’ve started the designs on the outside of the rock house. Lois and Sheila are doing them and I’m helping with other tasks and taking pictures! Thanks again Mike Standing for the awesome work you did!

I cannot say how much fun we had going to the airport to welcome Irene home from her all female honor flight. Unfortunately her flight was delayed 1.5 hours so what do 3 gals who’ve been friends for years do? Why we have fun of course! We laughed so hard my stomach muscles hurt. We had volunteers, airport staff and TSA agents laughing and wanting to join us. We were so proud to welcome Irene home and she was just glowing!

So proud of our unit member Irene who is currently in Washington DC on an all female honor flight. Irene served in the army as a nurse. She was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
