Some stories find their way farther than we ever could have imagined.
25 years later, Michael’s story continues to reach people in places we never could have imagined — from Flushing, Queens, to a hillside in Kinsale, Ireland, where a simple Mets shirt tied to a tree planted in Michael’s memory has become a beautiful and unexpected reminder of the life he lived.
A proud New Yorker, a devoted Mets fan, a beloved son, brother, friend and godfather, and a firefighter who never hesitated to answer the call to help others, Michael left an impact that continues to reach far beyond the people who knew and loved him.
We are incredibly grateful to MLB for telling Michael’s story and helping keep his memory alive.
