🍂💜 FALL INTO PURPOSE! 💜🍂

The Duane H. Tolen Sr. Foundation is doing something a little different this year!

We understand that the needs of our youth don’t stop when the school year begins. School supplies, hygiene products, snacks, and supportive resources are needed throughout the entire year.

That’s why we’re inviting the community to come together and Fall Into Purpose with us at our 2nd Annual Back-to-School Giveaway & Fall Festival!

📅 Saturday, October 10, 2026
⏰ 12 PM – 3 PM
📍 4120 Seven Hills Dr., Florissant, MO 63033

We are currently seeking volunteers, donations, sponsors, and community partners to help us make this day special for our youth.

Families can enjoy giveaways, food, music, face painting, a bounce house, mental health resources, and our GAME TRUCK! 🎮

💜 It takes a community to pour into our children. Let’s Fall Into Purpose together and make an impact that lasts beyond the first day of school.

Interested in volunteering, donating, sponsoring, or partnering? Please send us a message.

🌱💜 Grace & Growth Is Back in Session! 💜🌱

Today, the Duane H. Tolen Sr. Foundation kicked off another session of our flagship mentoring program, Grace & Growth, and we were excited to welcome 3 new mentees to our family! 💜

Ms. Sheryl Rogers led today’s Art & Literacy session, giving our girls an opportunity to read, create, express themselves, and work on their vision boards.

At the Duane H. Tolen Sr. Foundation, we believe exposure and new experiences are important—but so are literacy, leadership, discipline, respect, and accountability.

We’re not just creating fun experiences. We’re preparing our girls for LIFE. 💜

They have to see it before they believe it.

💜 INTRODUCING GRACE & GROWTH: THE BLUEPRINT

At the Duane H. Tolen Sr. Foundation, we believe mentorship should do more than inspire—it should expose, educate and prepare our youth for what’s possible.

Drawing from more than 40 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience and over 25 years in real estate, our Founder & President, Sonya M. Bartlett, is turning experience into opportunity for the next generation.

Grace & Growth: The Blueprint will give young ladies ages 14–18 real-world exposure to entrepreneurship, financial literacy, career development, leadership, real estate and wealth building—with professionals and community partners helping bring those lessons to life.

This is bigger than teaching business. It’s about helping our girls see possibilities for their future and giving them the tools and confidence to begin building it.

They have to see it before they believe it.

💜 Grace & Growth: The Blueprint
Dream. Learn. Lead. Build.

Community Over Everything 💙

Yesterday, the Duane Tolen Foundation was honored to partner with the Dwann Dillon Foundation for the 16th Annual Back-to-School Resource Fair. Through the hands and hearts of our Grace & Growth girls, we distributed 150 hygiene bags filled with toothpaste, toothbrushes, washcloths, body wash, and deodorant. We also gave away face masks and Nike tennis shoes to families throughout our community.

More importantly, our girls experienced the power of service and what it truly means to give back. We believe that when young people are given the opportunity to serve others, they begin to understand the importance of leadership, compassion, and community.

A huge congratulations to Buffy Dillon and the entire Dwann Dillon Foundation team for hosting such an incredible event. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of something that made such a big impact.

At the Duane Tolen Foundation, our mission remains the same: to expose, empower, and inspire the next generation—because they have to see it before they believe it. 💙

Congratulations to our very own Founder and President, Sonya Bartlett, on receiving the Grace & Growth Award!

Three years ago, we proudly watched DT stand on that stage and receive this very same honor. Tonight, in a beautiful full-circle moment, the torch has been passed. What once seemed unimaginable has become a testament to God’s plan, purpose, and perfect timing.

Through unimaginable loss, pain has been transformed into purpose. Sonya has continued to pour love, wisdom, and guidance into the young ladies of Grace & Growth, ensuring that DT’s legacy lives on through every lesson, every experience, and every life touched.

This award is not just for one person—it belongs to every girl who dares to dream, every mentor who shows up, and every supporter who believes in our mission.

Congratulations, Sonya! We know DT is smiling down with pride.

A special thank you to Michael Brown, Cal Brown, and the Chosen for Change Foundation for this incredible recognition, and to our family and friends who continue to uplift us along this journey.

“Sometimes God places us in uncomfortable spaces, not to break us, but to reveal the strength He placed inside of us.”

Please continue to pray for Grace & Growth as we continue this journey—one young lady, one experience, and one purpose at a time. 💙🏆

A Full-Circle Moment ❤️🕊️

Tonight, I am incredibly honored to receive the Change Agent Visionary Award from the Michael Brown Chosen for Change Foundation. What makes this recognition even more special is that Duane “DT” Tolen received this same award in 2023.

As I prepare to accept this honor, my heart is filled with gratitude, reflection, and emotion. The events of 2014 forever changed our community and sparked a movement centered around justice, healing, and creating opportunities for future generations. To now be recognized by an organization born from that movement is something I do not take lightly.

This award is not just for me—it’s for DT, whose legacy continues to inspire the work we do every single day. His passion for our community and our youth lives on through the Duane H. Tolen Sr. Foundation and Grace & Growth.

Never in a million years would I have imagined that just a few years after celebrating him for receiving this award, I would be standing in his footsteps, accepting the same honor. Although he is no longer physically here, I know his spirit is walking beside me tonight.

Thank you to the Michael Brown Chosen for Change Foundation for recognizing our commitment to serving others and creating change. Thank you to my family, board members, supporters, and everyone who has helped turn pain into purpose.

DT, this one is for you. 🕊️❤️

Building strong futures starts with building strong foundations.

This weekend, our Grace & Growth girls participated in an inspiring Financial Literacy Workshop led by Monica, Enterprise Bank & Trust, and an incredible team of high school interns.

These young leaders taught our girls the importance of budgeting, saving, and making smart financial decisions while serving as relatable role models. Watching our mentees connect with them was a beautiful reminder that representation and peer mentorship truly matter.

We wrapped up the day by reading Black Girl, Black Girl, What Do You See?, encouraging every girl to see her strength, beauty, confidence, and limitless potential.

A heartfelt thank you to Monica, Enterprise Bank & Trust, and your amazing interns for investing in the next generation of leaders. Together, we’re creating opportunities that inspire girls to dream bigger and believe in what’s possible.

At the Duane H. Tolen Sr. Foundation, we believe that empowering young people means preparing them for life—not just today, but for their future.

This weekend, our Grace & Growth girls participated in an engaging Financial Literacy Workshop led by Monica, Enterprise Bank & Trust, and an incredible team of high school interns. These young leaders did an outstanding job teaching our girls about budgeting, saving, and making wise financial decisions. Their ability to connect with our mentees created an environment that was both educational and inspiring.

We concluded the day by reading Black Girl, Black Girl, What Do You See?, encouraging our girls to recognize their beauty, value, confidence, and limitless potential. It was a meaningful reminder that every young girl deserves to see herself as a future leader.

We are grateful to Monica, Enterprise Bank & Trust, and the student interns for investing their time, knowledge, and hearts into our girls. Partnerships like these help us fulfill our mission of empowering underserved youth through mentorship, education, leadership development, and exposure to new opportunities.
